On Wednesday, they start the rounds of 64... and while many of the "less skillful" players have already been eliminated, there are still plenty of losers left.
So, it's time for another edition of
UNDERDOGSFor those not familiar with the term, Underdogs are the exact opposite of the Favorites. The term is usually shorted to simply "the dog". When you hear the expression, "who is the dog in this match", somebody is asking which team or player is not the favorite. The term is usually only used when somebody or some team is really over matched.
This year, The U.S. Open started with a bang as the Number One World Ranked Simona Halep christened the newly renovated Louis Armstrong Stadium with a shocking 6-2 6-4 loss to unseeded Estonian Kaia Kanepi on Monday, becoming the first top seed to lose an opening match at Flushing Meadows. Will she be the only high seed who crashes and burns, or will others join her
