What is it?
  • A contest where you compete for high score while forming words in crossword fashion using scrabble tiles (tiles have been formed into 6 sided "cubes").
  • Each player will be given 14 randomly generated "crossword cubes", players fill in the grid forming words across and down, connected in a continuous crossword pattern.

How do you play?
  • Players will have 24 hours to post they would like a set of cubes.
  • Players will have 48 hours to fill in their grid with their cubes. Each cube may only be used once.
  • You may write your letters on the grid or you can download the tiles provided below. If you write them in you need to also provide the tile value's (for ease of scoring). (See below for instructions on how to add your cubes to the grid).

    Player 1 wrote: Image OR Image
    Not Used: T U
    ACROSS
    TIGER = 6 points
    OF = 5
    DOWN
    TON = 3
    IF = 5
    WEAVE = 11
    TOTAL SCORE = 30
    2 CUBES LEFT OVER = -2 (point value)
    FINAL SCORE = 28

Rules:
  • Only one post per player
  • NO EDITING If you feel you added your points incorrectly do not worry, I will be double checking them and your posting them is just a guidline.
  • Words played side by side must also form words for all letters that are along side each other.
  • If you have a ( _ ) it may be used as any letter desired. If a blank is a common letter for two words, it must remain the same letter in both words. (you must state in your post what letter is being used for the ( _ ) cube).
  • All words must be in the Collins Dictionary - Official Scrabble Word Check
  • Words that are not allowed to be played include suffixes, prefixes, abbreviations and words that requires the use of a hyphen or apostrophe. Foreign words are not allowed. However, if the foreign word does appear in the Collins Dictionary - Official Scrabble Word Check, it is allowed.
  • Scoring:
    • Each letter has a score value as indicated by a number on the cube. The score value of a blank is zero. The score values of the horizontal words and vertical words are totaled. The letter used where a vertical and a horizontal word crosses is counted twice in scoring.
    • The total values of the cubes not used is deducted from the total score.

How to post your Grid
To download and update the grid with your words added using the free online-image-editor

  • Right click on the image of the grid.
  • Save the image, either to your desktop or wherver you save images to be used later (or copy the image address(URL) and upload it directly into the "From URL" tab on image editor).
  • In the opening post is a shortcut to all the letters (under the Tile Values)
  • Either click on the full alphabet or just on the letters you want.
  • Again right click on the images and save them to the same place you have saved the board.
  • Now open the online-image-editor (this is a free image editor)
  • Top left is "Upload new picture"
  • Under the Upload tab is "Choose File" - find where you saved your images and choose the grid image, upload. You should now have the grid uploaded and on your screen.
  • Go to the Wizards tab at the top.
    • Under the Wizards tab go to Overlay Image
    • On the left is now a box that says Choose File
    • Find the file that has all your images of the letters you saved.
    • Choose the letter you want and upload it
    • Move the image of the letter you just uploaded to the spot you want it and once in the right spot hit Apply. (Once you hit Apply you can not move the letter unless you say Undo, then you have to repeat the steps again).
    • Click on wizards -Overlay Image again
    • Repeat the steps until you have all your letters in the spots you want them.
  • When done you want to save your grid image (top left corner)
  • Now upload your grid to whatever hosting site you prefer and post your grid as per the rules.
You can choose any hosting site but many people prefer Imgur. Always make sure your image of the grid can be seen.
*if you use any word documents, once you save your images you should be able to load them into the document and then you can move them around as you wish, then you can save the completed image and upload as above.
