Okay, this one is probably too obscure to just post without further detail.
This is an R33 subway car, a model built in the early 50's and ran in service until they were retired in 2001. Several hundred were sunk off the coast of Cape May, NJ to provide the structure for an artificial reef.
The cars were called "Redbirds" on account of their deep red, graffiti resistant paint.
