Like MANY MANY others, I have absolutely no clue about this years Oscars.
I haven't seen any of the movies, and I've only barely heard about a few of them.
So... here are my "wild" guesses

1. A
2. A
3. A
4. B
5. A
6. A
7. B
8. A
9. A

If you haven't made your predictions yet, WHY NOT
This is your last day to do it, so don't miss out :D

Can somebody explain me why they just gave the best movie award in the middle of the ceremony? Nomadland won btw. This was so anticlimatic and tasteless, almost so bad like the end of The Sound of Metal

The worst ceremony ever. But two great actors: Francés McDormand & Anthony Hopkins were the last winners

Yes... The worst ever. I could only watch so much of it.
And while for our contest, most of the favorites won, there were still 3 surprises.
They weren't long shots, but they weren't the favorites.

Here are the winners for our 7 questions...
1. Best Supporting Actor = Daniel Kaluuya, “Judas and the Black Messiah”
2. Best Supporting Actress = Yuh-Jung Youn, “Minari”
3. Best Actor = Anthony Hopkins, “The Father”
4. Best Actress = Frances McDormand, “Nomadland”
5. Best Director = Chloé Zhao, “Nomadland”
6. Animated Feature = “Soul”
7. Documentary Feature = “My Octopus Teacher”
8. International Feature = “Another Round,” Denmark
9. Best Picture = "Nomadland"

Since it's getting late, I will do the official recap and payouts tomorrow morning.
Thanks all for playing, and feel free to continue the discussion ;)

Other than habit, I can't explain why I turned it on. Having turned it on, I can't explain why I didn't turn it off.

Besides Brad Pitt blowing the names of winners twice (YOU HAD ONE JOB PITT!), the worst moment to me was Glenn Close's "off the cuff" reading of the Wikipedia Page for (the genuinely great) EU's Da Butt. It seems to be getting good play this morning, but the LA Time confirms the piece was scripted.

I think that bit illustrates why Close has 8 Oscar nominations and still no win.

PREDICT THE OSCARS
RISK AND REWARD
WINNERS

It's all over, and all the awards have been handed out.

As you will remember, the entries were color coded to reflect three levels of Risk in each category and the amount you win if you predict the winner
BLUE = FAVORITE = 10 WRZ$
GREEN = THEY HAVE A CHANCE = 20 WRZ$
RED = JUST HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN NOMINATED = 30 WRZ$

If you pick "JUST HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN NOMINATED" as your prediction for a category, you win if ANY of the people in red win ;)

In 6 of our categories, the Favorite did indeed win
In 3 of the categories, the winners came out of the second tier
And there were no long shots this year.
So on to the winners...

HERE ARE THE 9 CATEGORIES AND THE WINNERS
#1 - BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
A. Daniel Kaluuya, “Judas and the Black Messiah”
#2 - BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
A. Yuh-Jung Youn, “Minari”
#3 - BEST ACTOR
B. Anthony Hopkins, “The Father”
#4 - BEST ACTRESS
C. Frances McDormand, “Nomadland”
#5 - BEST DIRECTOR
A. Chloé Zhao, “Nomadland”
#6 - BEST ANIMATED FILM
A. “Soul”
#7 - BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
B. “My Octopus Teacher”
#8 - BEST INTERNATIONAL FEATURE
A. “Another Round,” Denmark
#9 - #9 - BEST PICTURE
A. "Nomadland"

Now, on to the real important stuff... HOW MUCH DID EVERYBODY WIN
The good news is, only one person didn't win any WRZ$

Image
NOTE: IF YOU NOTICE THAT I MADE A MISTAKE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN CORRECT IT

We were also offering a 200 WRZ$ Bonus to the best predictor (the person that won the most WRZ$)

And the Best Predictor Bonus goes to...
ozswede
ozswede managed to predict 8 out of 9 categories correctly

CONGRATULATIONS TO OZSWEDE and all of our other winners
