i read a lot of books that are published through publishing companies and are poorly edited are disjointed in the story and also don't have a special story to tell. i don't think that the publishing companies make such a big difference in the quality of the books, or rather i believe that they censor to much of the good works and have to much power in what author becomes big and what author remains unknown. i mean look at the music industry, it went down hill in the last 20 years and because it's all about the money, doesn't matter if you have a good voice or are a good band if you don't have the face and don't whore yourself for the publicity you're out.
