But it's deplorable the state in which the book market is crowded with a lot of rubbish these days . They all have raving reviews , attractive covers , and a kind of well written first chapter in the previews in Amazon . But then it's absolute rubbish after that . It's become a nightmare finding a good book in this new rubbish heap :-x . I got so depressed being cheated again and again by such books , I even stopped reading for a long time . I almost forgot what good writing felt like . :(

i read about authors who can't republish some of their earlier works because the company with which they signed in the beginning won't let them, so if you have a series which is a success and a lot of your readers want to buy the first books in the series, you can't satisfy them because the company has it in for you 'cause you went to another publishing company or became indie. i even read about an author who has books in print that aren't distributed, but kept in a warehouse and can't do anything about it because in the contract only says that they have to be printed and not distributed, so the author can't get any royalties for those books and also can't get the right to republish that book :(

the problem is that there are always two sides to every story... i think that a good author will have free books from time to time, you get it you read it, and if you like it and can afford it you buy it.

the fact is that the more restrictive an industry becomes the more chance of censorship appears and of deals behind the scenes, so i'm all for indies in all walks of life ;)

If a book is really all that popular , I don't see why the publishers wouldn't want to continue . Maybe there are two sides . But to be frank I still think it's better than this current rush of rubbish back when only the cream of the crops got published .

@nerdy : You did post . I replied too . The Elf is super fast . It's your turn again 8)

Oh wait sorry . You can't post now . Hi mobilitic , post in our topics ?
