i can't give more examples because as i said before, i read the book i noticed the problem(s), maybe in the end i liked the book despite of the problems maybe not, but i didn't make a list which said:

ooo! this book by this author has this type of problem,

if i liked the book it remained in my mind the fact that i liked it, if not, most often than not i forgot even the name of the book and of the author. i most definitely wouldn't remember the fact that a book had grammar/spelling/inconsistencies problems, because in the end for me the fact that i liked a book or not wasn't dependent on that but if it touched me in some way or another.

The flaws you mention are fairly minor and rare and in case of the conversation part , fairly common and sometimes inevitable unlike those in indie books that makes me really frustrated . Take twilight for example . Everyone's always on about how kind and selfless Bella is . She's also supposed to be very intelligent because she reads classics and was at some advanced class and good at school .

She is indeed all of that in key points of the book . But for the rest of the book , she's just selfish , rude , and stupid .

And in other books , the dialogue is just plain childish , or has huge plot holes , or unbelievable changes in characters or just lazy writing . Eg : a love triangle - one of the boys the girl is confused over conveniently dies - she's totally cool about - it's like "well I have the other guy , hurray , happily ever after!" .

P.S: I just noticed . Topics I post in are properly updated in the View your Posts . But there's just one page of it when there used to be 3 ! :o

i noticed what you say in books that were not indie, the fact that a character was not consistent with how it is presented, or the fact that a character was abused in one way or another and has problems because of that, but when the right character appears the problem is easily surpassed and miracle of miracles the abused has no problems anymore.

there were a lot of women characters that really bugged me, were presented as being smart, independent but when the male character decided stuff the female even if she realized that he was doing the wrong thing would accept it meekly and without protest...

and yeah i also noticed that a character loses a loved one and it is terribly upset, and after a month or so, again when the right character makes its appearance, very easily gets over that loss, if this would happen in the real world i would consider that person to be very fickle.

Some women tend to follow their crushes\husbands blindly even in real life , even in these days :? . But I don't like the overly rude , haughtly female characters either .

Anyway I was talking about characters in general , not just the females .

i wasn't talking about only females also, i mean i found books with child abuse, male characters who were abused and such.

ooohh, and not to forget, the introduction of characters, mysteries or some other thread in the story that it is never mentioned again or only mentioned for a number of chapters, but after that doesn't make it's appearance again. this i also found in books before the indie era.

i'm not saying that the indie books don't have such problems, they have, all i'm saying is that the same problems appear in books published by publishing companies. my point is that the publishing companies don't make such a big difference, in the past their editing was a little bit better, but now i noticed that their standards were lowered so much that they even have grammar and spelling mistakes not only plot holes, inconsistent character a.s.o., which they had in the past.

Maybe there were i or 2 errors in a few books before the indie era . But in the indie era , in most books , the entire book is a flaw

it all depends on the author, indie or not it doesn't matter. and if the author is good i think it has a better chance of survival if it doesn't depend on publishing companies
