@ nerdy: you can be totally safe, but firewalls help.

Why do you think facebook is actually giving you all these ways to communicate? Not because they just want you to have fun. They do that because it is very lucrative to collect and sell all the information. And the funny thing is, people actually give facebook all their information, for free, and facebook makes billions of dollars from it.

Firewalls dont help against sites tracking you...

No of course not, like I said, it's the people that are stupid for not thinking about these things and posting all sorts of 'private' informatiion on the net and then expecting it to stay private for some reason. Facebook and other companies just abuse the fact that people aren't very smart. about their privacy these days

I think you deserve to be abused if you are silly enough to use and post stuff on facebook

@w@sp: firewall helps you against viruses and malwares but not against tracking. When you are on internet, it only means one thing “you are not safe”. Facebook games , apps etc they take your personal information and facebook gets dollars in return.

@temple: totally.

true nerdy but if you dont give them the information they cant do anything. it starts with the people, its not like facebook TAKES the information from you, its more like people opening their front door, and inviting facebook in and giving them all the info )

@ venheim: o_O

@ temple: I agree it is not intelligent to post private info on the net (or twittering your every move for example) I dont think people deserve to suffer because of it though. I feel pity for them.

Sure, but if you post some pictures of you and your friends, drunk or you and your girlfriend/boyfriend having sex, then it's your own fault if a future employer types in your name, sees these photo's or things you have said about all sorts of things, your sexual preferences or even what book you read, and decides not to invite you for a job interview =)

First thing the police or emplyoers or random people do these days when they want to know more about you is type in your name on facebook and see what shows up

@ temple: that's why I feel pity. You have to be too trusting for your own good or a bit too innocent to post things like that, using the net like a private photo album o_O
