br . . . I've discovered that one of my furry possum friends is living in the top of a tree fern, just opposite my back deck. I was watering the other day, and he came out blinking, and shook himself off . . . I'd ruined his sleep! Sometimes I can see his tail hanging out . . .

oh.... and do you pull his tail when you see it...

the other day their was a squirrel in the bird feeder... I walked up to it to shoo it away... it was lost in eating the bird seed he didn't even realize I was there..... so I pulled his tail to get his attention... I did...and he took off ...

Ice, this is a species of Australian possum, one of two kinds very, very common around here. Not at all related to the North American opossum . . . a totally different (and much cuter, by far) little animal. The other night I encountered a bigger brush-tail possum stealthily crossing our street. When he spotted me, he just froze and wouldn't move! I could have tried to pull his tail but knew that if I got close enough he'd run off. He and I were the only ones up and about at that time of night, so I just went on my way. br bear, I could almost lean over the back balcony and pull my sleeping possum's tail, but have decided to let him get his sleep. He might have had a long night, prowling around . . . Am just happy he's not living in my roof . . . which is their favourite resting place during the winter . . .
