Alessa, nearly 2 pm here on a Wednesday afternoon. The days do fly. Am going out soon to do a couple of errands and then have a cappuccino with a friend. I usually try to take a photo or two for 'Show Me Yours' while on my outings. Christmas decorations are already appearing in the Blue Mountains! Some shops have had them up for weeks! Have already got my Christmas presents sent to overseas relatives, including my brother and his family. My brother and his oldest son like non-fiction books, so I bought some to be sent from with the US or from England, postage free. Wish that they'd switch over to ebooks!

Thanks, matina. If I disappear suddenly, it's because I've lost my internet phone line due to a thunderstorm, which I can hear in the distant west. Cosmo and I are OK, because we run on batteries! Starting to cool off here as a southerly moves in . . . hope the same for you.

well i have something for you pj it arrived to day so i will need to post that out to you in the next couple of days i have finally finished all my xmas shopping i too have already sent my overseas stuff postage is such a bloody killer.;-( takes all the fun out of Christmas shopping and blows the biggest hole in ones budget. i dont know why we pay so much when most stuff done even make it to their destination sticky bloody fingers so not happy;-(
pj you should invest in a generator or a power bank to at least keep your phone online and internet connected

matina, I was actually going to buy a small generator some time ago, but over the years we're been pretty lucky around here with relatively few power outages in the Blue Mountains. Now, however, the problem seems to be with the phone line itself, via the new NBN fibre system, so the generator wouldn't help with that. Fortunately, the past phone line outages have only been for a few minutes at a time. Anyhow, am still thinking of getting a small generator, which I could keep out on the back deck.

A couple of years ago I stopped sending actual presents to my brother and his children and their families, and getting things mailed to them from within the US. It's not as personal, but I was finding the postage costs were getting higher and higher and the days taken for delivery to the US longer and longer. At least in the US they still have Saturday mail deliveries. And I've really cut down a lot on paper Christmas cards. I'm eligible for the 'pensioner discount postage rate' but it still adds up. Just getting ready to drive to Katoomba to have a cappuccino with my friend Roger.



Last year's photo of my friend's cappuccino, with the exact location showing on his GPS unit! This way, you never lose your favourite coffee shop, I guess!

and as for postage .... I think it is ridiculously priced all over the world... it's costly to send letters or parcels from Canada as well...
