Good evening to matina, Katy and Alessa. And hi to John too. Thanks for your continuing concern for my precarious internet situation. I've had a very, very busy day and in-between all my errands and other jobs, I've been on the phone almost constantly with iiNet and NBN. The upshot should be that I have a new 'fix it' appointment between 8 am and noon tomorrow. Will of course let everyone know as soon as that happens. I know a number of my Mobilism friends are waiting for books, but I really just haven't had the time to do that. Tomorrow will be 13 days!

I have power, I have internet and best of all I have heat

I have to say losing power in these temperatures is not a fun thing... its a good thing my house was warm already when it happened as I have my thermostat set to start with a slightly lower temp at about 9ish (I sleep better that way)... but no heat is a different story, blankets, and that item no home should be without..candles...not only do they provide light, they provide heat

And well if all else failed and it didn't come back on I was taking myself over to my sisters house

and the scariest thing...was the fact that I had only 22% battery in my laptop, 21% on my Ipad and about 30% on my phone , so with no internet available the laptop wasn't much good to me, so I had to steal as much power from it for my phone..that was a must...and I had as much turned off on the IPad as I could so I could read for a bit moral of the story...always make sure your devices are fully charged

back up generator!!!! & power banks are a good second back up
i always carry an extra phone battery fully charged in my hand bag as well as a fully charged solar power bank. and charger in the car.
Ice shop from aliexpress they are relatively cheap and they have free shipping on most things. they do take a while to get there but a small sacrifice if your saving big$$$

Good (Wednesday) afternoon to matina and Katy and Alessa!

Well . . . am now venturing to say, cautiously . . . I seem to be back online! There are a great many stories I could tell (but not right now) about the 40-50 phone calls I've made over the past 13 days to both my ISP (iiNet) and the NBN 'Complaints' office down in Melbourne. Skipping to 8:45 this morning (2:30 pm right now) the NBN techie phoned me to say he was ten minutes away. Turns out he drove all the way up here into the Blue Mountains from Liverpool, in Sydney's southwest, a 80-90 minute drive at best, maybe longer. Connection was fixed but he said I'd need a new modem too. Phoned iiNet and will get one free in 3-5 days, but I also elected to drive over to Katoomba and buy a spare one . . . just in case. Has taken me an hour, but I seem to have it working OK now. Won't bore you all with more details, but thanks so much to all of you who sent me good wishes. Maybe you were praying for me too! I've sure learned a lot.

Photo shows my 19 year old grandson on the famous Tongariro Alpine Traverse on the North Island of New Zealand. Have about 75 more photos to download from his mother, my daugher-in-law. Will share a few of the best ones here at TFWBL over the next few days. The family is now in Christchurch and will soon be off to beautiful Queenstown, one of my very favourite places in the 'Land of the Long White Cloud.'

Alessa, I just got a shock to hear about the earthquake. Trust you're OK. Please let us all know ASAP.

We’re OK. The earthquake happened in Hualien (I live in Taipei), about 3 hrs South-East of Taipei. It was a big one. We’ve been having aftershocks ever since it happened. We’ve actually had many other smaller ones in the past few days. I guess it was leading to this bigger one. Thank you all, for your concern!
