Took a few photos while wandering around the cliff edges at Wentworth Falls yesterday, only a few minutes drive from my house. If I cross the street, I can actually see where I was walking yesterday . . . but those big gum trees get in the way of my living room views.
Had my usual Skype call with my brother this morning. His chemo will continue at reduced levels (oral only) 5 days a week until June. Tests have come back 'all clear' but the doctors want to be sure. He spent Saturday and Sunday first plowing and then (after the snow turned to rain) sanding. He was really worn out when we talked. It's a hard life, living in Maine during the winter.
matina, was on the phone yesterday to iiNet, chasing up my 'free' (under warranty) modem router and in fact the courier just delivered it 30 minutes ago. They promised to amend my monthly bill to clear the modem charge and also the monthly call charges. A manager in Capetown was supposed to phone me back, and they apologised, but so far I've heard nothing. Most attractive-looking option right now is a switch to Telstra, while remaining with the NBN system. The mobile modem option would just be too slow down on Sublime Point, too far from the mobile phone tower. And that distance from the 'node' to my house is longer than I expected, meaning that a switch to Telstra is unlike to get me faster speeds. So will be comparing costs. But . . . for now . . . am just so grateful to have my internet back, at any speed. Hope your Monday goes well!
Katy, up to 25 degrees here now, and sunny. I've been sending my two grandchildren (aged 19 and 15) iTunes cards for birthdays and Christmas. But this year sent the oldest money instead. I think that's what he really wanted. Otherwise, I have no idea what to buy them. (When I was 19 I know I would have much preferred money!)
John, will get back to the Olympics soon. Have been sending my brother information about the continuing (very tragic) search for the Malaysian MH370 in the Indian Ocean. Search ship is now docked in Fremantle (near Perth) and independent investigators are exchanging tips and clues. jeffwise.net is the 'real deal' for accurate information from the independent researchers, because most of what we hear on the major media is 'fake news' (if you'll pardon the expression). Having been a journo myself in my younger years, I know from experience how most reporters really have no clear idea about the background of many (most) serious news stories, and only repeat what they're told.
