Yes, Katy, a lot goes on while we're sleeping. Unfortunately, I seem to be seeing the re-runs! Anyhow, will now avert my eyes and concentrate on John's hockey and curling results, from the Olympics.

matina, hope you'll have a good Olympic day.

Good news is that I'm going to be a koala research volunteer! I had thought I'd have to go out in the bush across the street and keep my eyes peeled for fuzzy creatures up in the gum trees. But, no . . . I'm going to spend to four hours at a time watching thermal imaging results from drones, via the internet, which aims to see how effective inexperienced observers can be, using the newest wildlife monitoring technology. Soon I hope to post some examples here. (As you guessed, this is part of my son's work in Queensland.)

good to see you both needtakehave and Coachdino01 we are well how are you both? it is time for my nana nap so i will see you all later. last night was 24 degrees with 56% humidity more of the same for the next 3 nights and the days are 33-35 respectively and 40% humidity horrid i am officially in hell.
some one throw me down on the curling ice ring so i can pave the way lol;-)

Katy, after an overnight low of 9 degrees . . . wow! . . . it's now back up to 18 and the sun has come out. Actually, quite a nice day. Checked my brother's local web camera 16,490 kilometres away, and the snow has changed to rain . . . 7 degrees there . . .



My son's family spotted this little blue penguin on a NZ beach, during their trip. Hope everyone the South Island is safe as Cyclone Gita hits.

OK, everyone . . . Here's my first 'sample' koala-spotting training photo, a thermal image. You're looking down from the drone to my son's car (at the bottom of the picture) and a round 'ufo-shaped' object that must be some kind of equipment. My son is in-between the two. Remember that you're looking down at the top of his head, so you can see just his head and shoulders. He's holding the drone controls. Hmmmmm. Now I have to view some sample movies, that show known koalas, so that I know what I'm looking for!

Had trouble with my modem today, just like last week and then it reset all by itself again... this time I'll keep the house call booked and they can take away the old modem and give me a new one, don't want it to happen a third time and be without internet until they can get to my house... that would be a crime!! Not sure I would be able to handle the withdrawal

Good idea, Stretton. My ISP is now sending me (free) a second modem, which will mean that I have three now . . . two spares. No-one should have to go without the internet in this day and age!

Am presently watching a 540 meg 'training movie' of the tops of trees, all in shades of grey! Hope I can make it through a four hour viewing session next week! I assume that I'll eventually be told what a koala (or possum) looks like, so I can make IDs!

matina and Katy, trust that you're napping.

Just spoke to my friend Roger, on the train, but won't meet up with him today. Have to go to the post office at some point. Quite a beautiful day up here now, not too hot as yet.

And if that fails, I have access via my phone from AT&T (Unlimited high speed data)

John, now that's called having a back-up or two (or three)!! I'll have to look into something myself b/c it's too hard to do without...

PJ - for some reason my provider won't give out extras... they carefully keep track of all equipment each customer has... Like if I want a new cord, I have to bring in the old one, or else I can't have one, even if it's damaged they want to see it... they have no trouble at all giving out new stuff, but they won't give out extra stuff...

Ok for people who don’t use TV like me (I have 5 tvs in my house but I use none by choice) there is apparently a live YouTube streaming channel from Olympics directly which anyone can watch from any device.





Both Channels are showing different Live events, people using VPN try any country in Asia (Singapore, Taiwan or India) it should work thanks for the region update Pj
