Hi, Stretton!

Weather radar shows a thunderstorm bearing down on the Katoomba (upper Blue Mountains) area, coming from Lithgow. Am probably going to shut down for at least half an hour . . . still only 15 degrees here, and still raining . . .

My house is just out of the shot, to the extreme left . . .

br bear, I eventually attracted five crimson rosellas . . . by about 2 pm.

Thunderstorms all miraculously missed Leura . . . I watched carefully on the radar . . .

Stretton, well spotted! Those are the precariously-mounted metal frames that hold the famous/notorious floodlights, which come on every night and illuminate 'The Sisters' for the tourists. From my house, they cause the rock formation to be silhouetted in black . . . sometimes against a golden, foggy background.

Ohhh that's interesting, I bet they would be really beautiful all lit up at night!! Why do you say notorious? Do some people not want them?

Stretton, yes, they're beautiful at night, when illuminated, but occasionally it's questioned whether or not all that electricity should be used, all night, every night, to light up a bunch of rocks! I think it extends the 'tourist day' in the winter, because people have something to look at, at night.

BTW, traditionally the rocks are called 'The Three Sisters,' but in more recent years local aboriginal groups have pointed out that there is no such legend (sisters being pursued & changed into rocks to protect them from whatever was chasing them) and that there used to be seven rocks standing there, reminiscent of the seven stars of the famous Pleiades constellation within Taurus.

matina, have a good visit!

br bear, have a good sleep!

Stretton, yes, it's a question as to whether attracting more tourists (and this is one of the two most popular tourist spots in the entire Blue Mountains region) is worth the cost. But it's really quite unforgettable at night . . . not that I go there that often!

Down to 13 degrees C here at 3 pm (that's 55 degrees F) and not feeling much like summer at all here!

This photo shows the small, lower lookout at Echo Point. The upper lookout is humungous and often packed with tourists. My house is behind that big rocky cliff to the extreme left . . .

Good morning/evening/afternoon/whatever all...

Just checking in. Way too much Sports Center stuff to do because of the end of all the Olympic Contests.
Yes, Katy, you got your pick in on time.

I'll stop by again once the dust settles.
