Good morning, matina and Katy and Alessa! Yes, back to summer here, 29 degrees right now, but feels hotter. Very windy, which is always a worry.

Katy, here's the ABC's report on what you're experiencing! But summer is nearly over here in the mountains.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-18/b ... 0c/9560178

matina, my brother has given me a partial report on his blizzard . . . 16 straight hours plowing on one day, and then many more hours for the following two days. I think snowfall totals were between 65 and 70 cm. Roger thought that the new Katoomba cafe had excellent coffee, so we might go back again and enjoy those highchairs . . .

Image

Yesterday's walks around the parks in Blackheath were a lot of fun. Will have more autumn leaf pictures soon. But it sure doesn't feel like autumn today . . .

Hi to br bear and Ice, and also John and Diva.

More than 90% of thermal image viewing now completed . . .

JG help me out here its has been a while since i have had guinness beer but whats the sweeter one called again? it is right on the tip of my tongue by my brain refuses to work :? :? :? there is a nice sweet one which is creamy tasting and almost caramel flavor to it (i think it is the stouts), as the droughts are too dry & bitter for my liking.
I once had a beer called Beamish Stout. (i know not a guinnness) but OH my lord!!!! :o  it tasted like chocolate flavored beer and spicy ooooohhhhh sorry having a homer moment     (as i wipe drool of my chin)  time for nap and dreams of chocolate flavoured beer    8)

Have spent the last couple of hours in front of the air conditioner, watching thermal videos and photos. Above is a now-familiar thermal shot of my son's drone's landing pad. I still don't know what the H stands for.

Guess it's a wonderful summer's day down in Sydney . . . though a bit too hot for my liking.

Image

Sunglasses photo from the ABC web site, showing the Sydney Habour Bridge. It's probably nicer near the ocean, with a strong breeze.

Image

Walked past the large swimming pool complex at Blackheath yesterday afternoon . . . closed annually from the first week in March. It's a shame, because today would be a perfect swimming day . . . up to 32 degrees! (Local Blue Mountains City Council has plans to close this complex, and there were notices all over the fences, giving information on the petitions and protests aimed to keeping it open.)

Hope matina and Katy and John and the TFWBL regulars are well. Imagine that br bear and Ice have gone to bed by now . . . Stretton too. Thanks, Diva, for the contest notifications.

If you are talking about Stouts... there is really only the "Holy Irish Trinity"

Image

It's interesting that you mention that the Beamish tasted like chocolate flavored beer, because most think that Murphy's is the one with the more chocolate taste.

I'm not sure which of the three would be considered sweeter since stouts really aren't sweet.
You might be thinking about Harp Lager, which is brewed by Guinness. Now that is sweeter.

John . . . 'Sydney Swelters' headlines at the ABC site . . .

Image

"Total fire bans are in place across 11 regions in New South Wales, while temperatures are forecast to soar in Sydney today with the mercury predicted to reach 40 C in the CBD and western suburbs. Bondi is tipped to reach 39 C, while 40 C is forecast in Parramatta, Blacktown, Canterbury and Campbelltown. Residents in bushfire-prone areas in central and eastern parts of the state are being urged to review their survival plans, with the bushfire danger rating lifted to 'severe' across much of New South Wales. (By 3:00pm, the temperature had climbed past 38 C in the CBD.)"

Temperature up here in the mountains is just a touch below 30 degrees . . . and the wind is howling . . .
