Well , i've just pledged 5$ on patreon for one of my favourite asmrtists and i've downloaded a bunch of mp3 files , so i guess i'll sleep more than well tonight . That's the only thing important that happened to me today

Btw can you tell me if it's true that reading on kindle is better than reading on a regular phone/tablet , they say that it's better for your eyes ? :?

Hope that everyone is doing well

It depends if your Kindle is back lit or not - if it doesn't, it's likely better for your eyes, as your phone/tablet are LED and tend to have that blue lighting, which hurts your eyes, and tricks your brain into thinking that it's still day time, even if it's night time.

Cosmo is such a good boy, PJ!! :D :D

Hi Barbie!
Oh! And if you're reading this, drink some water :)

Star, hope you’re getting lots of rest :)

johndoeiguessno, I haven’t used my kindle in years but I recall it’s easier on the eyes. The main reason I stopped using it was that I couldn’t read it without a light source whereas ipad is always lit. Some kindles like the Paperwhite line have screen light, so you could try it and see how you like that. Enjoy the new downloaded music! :-P

 :o Cosmo my man!  you gorgeous specimen well done in keeping dad company and keeping him on the road to recovery :D purr therapy is the best type ;-)
i am still using my nook it is e ink and i prefer it less harsh on the eyes and you can read it outside without the words disappearing when the sun hits it at the wrong angle. it is literally like a book if you had a book you would need a light source so thats fine with me i have those nice antenna lights battery and power operated they are awesome they have 2 settings low and high :D :D
my ophthalmologist recommended the nook and the lights i had my techy friend order me one from Canada as the nooks were not available here in Australia when it first came out. he had his friend buy it and send it to him. so i was one of the first to get one here in Australia :shh: :shh:   where there is a will there is a way

johndoeiguessno, the basic Kindle (and I have the newest version) is unlighted, with no backlight, and so relies on having a nearby lamp at night. No 'keep awake' blue tones there. I also have a Fire that's backlit, but it's able to switch over to 'golden tones' in the evening. Any kind of 'blue light' (including TV) isn't recommended if you want to sleep well.

matina and Katy, will try to get an more alert shot of Cosmo later. As I've often written, he doesn't like being photographed.

Smartphone/tablet screens emit bright blue light so you can see them even at the sunniest times of day.

But at night, your brain gets confused by that light, as it mimics the brightness of the sun. This causes the brain to stop producing melatonin, a hormone that gives your body the "time to sleep" cues. Because of this, smartphone light can disrupt your sleep cycle, making it harder to fall and stay asleep — and potentially causing serious health problems along the way.

Apple with iOS 9.3 update changes that. It enables a new mode called Night Shift that you can set starting at whatever you choose time in the evening. When Night Shift kicks in, your phone automatically adjusts the display so that it gives off warmer, less blue light.

I thought of buying Kindle originally but bought the iPad Mini instead as just with some more money I can do much more including reading on my iPad instead of buying a kindle.

When I became aware of the blue light issue, I immediately bought and installed Tempered Glass RetinaGuard anti blue light screen protectors on my iPhone & iPad, it blocks 90% of the harmful blue light.

It was important for me as I read on my iPad and also I read in black background mode.

Pj keep getting better and healthier, hugs to fuzzies and my fave Aussies :D

Thank you guys for telling me this!
Right now the most important thing for me is that while i read i don't hurt my eyes. Seems like the kindle is the best option but i don't like the fact that you would need a lamp while reading at night (that's the whole point i know, for it not to have a light that hurts your eyes). For now i think I'll just have to settle with bluelight filters. I love reading but since I've learned that i need to wear glasses (I've read too much tiny letters on my phone a couple of hours daily - for months) I'm afraid I'll make my eyesight worse. Ok sorry for the rant xD

Diva-there are actually blue light screen protectors out there :o
That's actually amazing , you're automatically protecting your eyes.
Btw i also like to read in a black background mode xD

Matina - Good night!
I'm actually going to sleep myself (again) :'D

Talk to everyone later :)

Kindles are designed for reading so general speaking they’re better for your eyes.
But as mentioned, it may keep you up at night if you don’t make some adjustments.
The kindle does offer some options. (Depending on which model you’re using.)

For a kindle keyboard or a kindle white Reduce the light setting and/or invert the colors helps. Its not ideal but it does help.

The Kindle Fire does have a night mode
except they don’t call it night mode.
They call it “Blue Shade”
To turn on the Blue Shade
Go to settings
Then select “display”
Then select “blue shade”
Adust to your personal preference.

I’ve cut back and now only have 3 kindle and 1 iPhone.
For pure reading I found the dedicated e-readers
to be the easiest on the eyes. (paper white and keyboard)
They also have the best battery life.

PS: And no coffee and beignet after midnight.

I don't like drinking coffee after midnight but as for beignets - i can't guarantee
Btw thank you for your explanation, i literally thought that kindle white has a dark background options
P. S. I don't have kindle (yet), i would really like to buy one but I'm having second thoughts. For example, i don't like the fact that i would need a lamp at night to read kindle.. :? But fire kindle sounds nice since it has a night mode.
Anyway, I'll let you guys know if i buy it, have to save more money xD

Oh, thanks for sharing the info on how to protest the eyes from blue light. If not for WD, I don’t even know there is a night shift setting on my iPhone... and now I’m thinking of getting one of the anti-blue light screen protectors to protest my overused eyes :)
