star wish you well with your procedure and will be saying a prayer for you;-) oh & even with the nbn i still get those spam calls even if i am on the do not call register and update it every 3 years. makes no difference the asshats!
Brooklyn really they pretend to be their grandson turn the tables on them and say "oh honey you found a way to call me from the great beyond, whats life like over there? because i am going to send you this asshat of a caller to keep you company!" i really feel bad for those who have dementia and cant hear well enough that fall for it
PJ nice to see you about i hope you are recovering well.
so we are off to the pub for lunch tonight i start my new medication so i will be house bound for at least the next 2 days see how it all goes wary and freaked out. god be with and bless you all enjoy your weekend folks

I think I've finally scared all the phone scammers away... the Vegas one was pretty persistent, but I told them a few home truths and they did finally stop calling... and then I got some automated WestJet ones, but they gave you an option to press 2 to opt out and they would then call from another number and you would have to opt out again... so I think they finally used up all of their numbers... so haven't heard from them in a while...

That grandchild one is unconscionable... morally bankrupt...

JG I've thought of using the air horn, but the thing is, they have your phone number and I'm scared that they would make me their 'special project' and I would get a phone call on the hour every hour... and since they're out of country you really have no recourse to get them to stop...

Beautiful day up here in the mountains . . . now 15 degrees, bright and sunny. The wind has dropped a bit.

Katy, I go to the cardio rehab every Friday morning and they have a selection of special exercise equipment and you record on your clipboard what you do. The physio takes your blood pressure and usually listens to my lungs. I missed two sessions because of my severe anaemia. The doctor told me not to go.

stretton do you have caller I.D? if you do then just look at the number if it is a number you recognize answer it if not then dont. or do you have an answering machine? if you have an answering machine let it pick it up if it is a legitimate call they will leave a message and a call back number. if they dont then you know it wasn't important enough so dont worry about it. OH and never ever press any buttons to opt out then they have you for real not long ago last year we had one going on around here in Australia and it was actually giving then the way of making long distance phone calls on your phone linehttps://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-16/what-you-should-do-if-you-receive-a-scam-call/9446976 never ring them back if you know they are scammers by not recognizing the number then dont pick up. never ever press option buttons.

Yikes, those scammers sure have it down pat, don't they? I usually pick up because they always seem to call when I'm asleep, so I just reflexively answer the phone, without looking at the caller I.D. and to be honest I've only gotten the two types that I mentioned above, so the calls came in groups and then they stopped, so usually when I'm called it's for me... I read the article and it didn't mention about pressing the opt out, the WestJet recording says if you don't want any more calls press two, which I do and then immediately hang up, so I think I'm safe, but who knows...

In many cases here, if you press the opt out number, that tells them they have a real phone number, and that's just an invitation for more phone calls...

Most scammers won't leave a message, and if they do, you will usually laugh your ass off listening to it
Don't ever press a number for an opt out

And you are right matina... putting your number on a national do not call list only really stops the honest telemarketers. The scammers are using auto dialers (or phone bots) so a list isn't worth anything. Here now, people are "phishing", where the number that comes up looks like a local call or even a legitimate number that they've stolen, so caller Id can be misleading as well...
So yeah, I've stopped picking up. If it's important, they can leave a message and I will call them back

never ever tell them anything about you, hang up report & it to your telecommunications ombudsman, never send money never give out any identification. or correct their false information on you.
