matina, received this photo from my brother's wife overnight, showing that there's still plenty of snow on the local mountains. This shot was taken quite near their house.

Katy, yes, you're right. My friend's photo was an unusual angle on the the first of the 'Three Sisters.' I can't quite picture which trail he was taking at the time. Of course, I can see this famous rock formation from the end of my street.

Seb, there are no stairs of any kind to the top of the first of the 'Sisters' but you can take a trail down to the base. If you look carefully, you can see an indent down there, where there's a bench. I've walked there many times myself. Climbing any of the 'Sisters' is now illegal!

It is not everywhere that you can come across such droolworthy...mmm...masonry.


And here is a particularly fine specimen of a...er...crumbling mediaeval fortification.


And just look at this delectable...castle, barely distinguishable over yonder in the background


And this big and mighty...canon! What a sight for sore eyes.
