Hello everyone

A little sun up here amidst all the rain these past days. PJ, as always,I love those beautiful clouds and those pics of the backyard were lovely too. Makes me wanna visit your place someday :D
Matina hope you made good use of that day to yourself

Since things are getting back to normal (or as normal as it can be) my mother is sewing face masks for us all. She has come up with some beautiful ones too. Having those will be a blessing cause wearing those are much comfy as they are my size and not sooo oversized that they cover my eyes too.

A cousin of mine is coming back home from working abroad. So have to clean up my mother's house in a day or two (where nobody lives these days and has been so for some months now) and stock it up so that he can stay there for the quarantine period.

For now, figuring out what to do with my day

Wish everyone a good day/evening.

Very good to hear from you, MiaJohn. I'm posting another 'sky' picture for you, showing the view west from my house, in the opposite direction of the earlier photos.

Your mother is very smart to be making face masks. It reminds me of my own dear grandmother, who used to make all kinds of things, including quilts. I still have my personal quilt from the 1950s, with my name embroidered on it! It was made out of scraps and pieces of old clothing.

Here in NSW (which includes Katy), we're hoping very much that we won't have the same virus outbreak that's happening in the adjacent state of Victoria, where they now have to wear masks, at least in Melbourne. It's hard to know what else to do, but I stay at home most of the time, taking daily walks around the nearby National Park, and only go to the shops or pharmacy when I really have to do something essential. Seeing my distant friend for coffee today was an exception to this rule, although I did take the opportunity to buy some essentials at the nearby supermarket.

Hope your cousin gets through the quarantine period OK. It sure will be better than a forced quarantine in a hotel, which is what happens to arrivals in Sydney (that is, when you can actually get a flight into Australia).

Off for my nap soon . . . bye, everyone!

Hi matina. Hope all is OK with you today. Just received an e-mail from my niece about my brother's doctor's appointment on Monday, their time. His BP was 122/64 and he has new pain pills. These seem to work well and have taken away his constant pain. He also has an MRI scheduled soon to double check that there's nothing else wrong with his back. And he's cut down on the heavy landscaping and mowing work. So that made me feel a lot better.

Katy, it was down to -1 last night in this part of the mountains, and was only up to 5 degrees last time I looked. But beautiful and sunny, with a clear, blue sky. Wish some of your rainbow lorikeets would head up this way. Rishi was on my bed all night, which is usually a sign that it's cold! Overnight someone sent me an extract from the American CDC (Center for Disease Control) Journal, which found that face masks and even hand washing showed no sign of stopping or even reducing the spread of virus infections in 14 trials. It said that masks are only intended for the operating room to avoid 'splash' (yuck) and stop the doctors and nurses from accidentally sneezing or coughing on patients. This is the kind of scientific journal information that I find disturbing and makes you ask what is really true and what is false. Of course, I'll wear a face mask if it's made mandatory and am very sure that always washing your hands is good for you in many different ways. But so much of what I read about this damn virus is contradictory. Anyhow, hope you stay well down your way and am glad you're staying home. matina seems to be located in one of the best places. Am just about to enjoy my second cup of Lavazza coffee . . . bringing me to the day's limit! Where I sit I can look out over my feeding station and see the escarpments glowing in the distance across the Jamison Valley. I feel so lucky to be here.

Hi to Diva and Blue and MiaJohn all the CC&BC regulars. Hope to hear from a few of you later today.

Good evening

I know I'm kinda late at asking this... So you are all basically from the same place?(pj, kathyln& matina)

It's optional so as to where you want to spend quarantine, either at places where the authorities provide or if possible at our own isolated houses. And yes, the govt have taken over most college/school hostels in hope of turning it into quarantine centres. We are at the verge of a community spread :(

Matina, you are making me feel guilty for not posting sometimes. I agree I read most of what's going on here, but don't really have much to contribute here cause of the lack of anything interesting happening these days
It's as interesting that I forget the weekend sometimes :shifty:

Time for bed.. Good night, sleep tight everyone...

matina, hope you have a good outing with your mother. Thanks for the PM. Will write more soon. My niece just returned with her mother from the specialist surgeon, and my sister-in-law's drainage tube is now out, which helps a lot. She's supposed to start her own chemo in two weeks, which will mean both my brother and his wife will be going to the hospital on the same day, every fortnight.

Katy, it's been cold here too, but now all is bright and sunny and it's a beautiful winter's day. Yes, the virus is really a mystery and I guess all we can do is to stay positive and more or less stay home. I have to quickly go over to Leura Mall today (a five minute drive) but then have promised myself a small garage-cleaning project. I won't be doing any heavy work but it will feel good to have two particular corners cleaned out. Rishi spent the night on my bed again.

MiaJohn, don't worry about writing unless you really want to . . . or maybe you can post a picture or two. Anyhow, it's always good to hear from you.

Hi to Diva and Blue, as always.

Bye for now, everyone . . .

matina, all OK here. Fuzzies do love their boxes! Latest e-mail from my niece reports that my brother and his wife are slightly better today. My sister-in-law has her drain out, which is making her feel a lot more comfortable. Am worrying about them every day.

Katy, up to 10 degrees here today . . . another bright and sunny winter's day. The Blue Mountains CC truck just came by slowly, fixing all the potholes in front of my house. I'm very impressed.

I did half, or more like a third, of my planned garage cleaning yesterday, and made good progress. I threw a lot out, and left some of my unwanted equipment out on the nature strip. A couple about my age stopped by almost immediately and took some of it, and we had a nice chat.

Hi to Diva and Blue and MiaJohn. Hope you're all well. Bye for now!

PJ hope all is well with you and yours please keep me posted.
I wanted to go out today but i am stranded at home the council is ripping up the old kerb and replacing with a new one they are cementing it today i only hope i can get the car out for tomorrows activities with Satan optometrist and frame selection
backing the car out is no issue it is the front of the car i am worried may rip the front bumper bar off as the gravel is high enough to have the steel plate going over the newly cemented area but my driveway is on a slope so you get my meaning :? :? :( :(
so home day today yay lots to get organized for tomorrow :)
hello to the regulars and lurkers i hope you are all well
