A break from the clouds and electricity it seems . The power will be gone for most of the day it seems owing to the winds and rain yesterday night.

Yesterday we whipped up some cookies from peanut butter. The jar was bought some time back, and has to be finished at the latest. So, what better way

Hi, everyone. I drove all the way into Penrith today (took about an hour) and got my new iPhoneSE. I'd been planning to do this for some time, to upgrade my iPhone7, and get a greater (128 GB) capacity. This phone should last me into the foreseeable future. I'm still a bit worried that Sydney will go into lockdown, maybe for an extended period, and with home grocery and pharmacy deliveries lined up, and a new iPhone, I think I could settle in at home for a long time, if necessary. Anyhow, am glad this is all finally done, although I thought twice about driving to Penrith. Apple gave me a mask and took my temperature!

matina, that kookaburra and his friend or partner get lots of leftover cat food every morning and they don't budge when the mapies and currawongs arrive. I'm sure I have two feathered friends for life!

Katy, it was almost summery down off the mountains . . . 20 or 21 degrees. I expect it was the same at your house. Back here, I'm expecting a -1 degree night. Fire is going and fuzzies are happy.

MiaJohn, thanks for your good wishes. If you're in the US or Canada (I notice you refer to 'cookies') then I hope you're in a safe place. I've heard now that the entire northeast, and especially New England, is tapering off in positive virus tests. Sorry to hear about your power outage. I really hope I don't have this happen to me too often! I have a generator on the back deck but haven't had it going for two years, so must make sure its working.

Hi matina . . . hope the appointment went well today. Glad I could find those books.

Katy, the Apple people really seemed to be on top of the social distancing, masks, temperature checks, contact details, etc. And there weren't too many customers . . . pretty well spread out. Lots of staff everywhere. (See photo below.) I was more worried about being at Westfield's in general, though it really wasn't crowded at all. I was in and out in about an hour. Today the temperature in the mountains is up to 11 degrees, still sunny. But I guess the big storm is near. My little iPhone app forecasts it to begin at 2 pm.

Ah, I guess I never mentioned where I hail from. I'm from India, and more specifically my state is often referred to as 'God's own country' . Since English is not my first language, I've developed it over the years by all those movies and books... So for me, well, I use the terms 'cookies' and 'biscuits' interchangeably, whatever I feel like at the moment

We might go into the second lockdown sometime starting from Monday it seems (not that the first one ever ended ) At the beginning we always had below 100 covid cases, and these days it's always nearing a 1000 especially with all the emigrants returning home.

Another quite day in...

MiaJohn, your written English is very good, so I didn't guess it was your second language! I think I've mentioned to Diva and other friends here at CC&BC that quite some time ago that I spent 3 months in India. I started out in Rajasthan (arriving overland from Afghanistan and Pakistan) where a friend was working, and gradually made my way down to Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu, where I spent quite a few weeks. I certainly developed a taste for Indian food (both north and south) which has stayed with me all my life!

Katy, yes, it would be nice to be able to go out and about our normal lives without worrying. Positive tests in the Sydney area have remained more or less constant, so there's hope that NSW will cruise along OK. Was weird having to wear a mask for the very first time yesterday when I was in the Apple HQ. I could hardly breathe and my glasses fogged up! Rainy and 8 degrees up here right now . . . am very cosy in my house, though, with two sleeping fuzzies.

Katy, yes, rain, rain, rain up here too. It's leaked through my much-photographed front deck, down to my front porch, so I'm definitely going to have to get those tiles re-sealed. I did the rear deck myself, more than two years ago, but think this time I'm going to pay to have it done . . . when the rain stops! Fuzzies stayed dry and warm last night. Wasn't quite as cold as a few days ago.

MiaJohn, let us know when you have your electricity back!

hello all been very busy forgive my absence Satan was a pain in the proverbial, he got agro at the optometrist i got agro with him and then it was all downhill form there, but we all made it out of there alive and no blood spilled just barely. had a migraine since Saturday but still had to keep moving.
