matina, hope you're feeling better today. Photo above (pond in the bush in front of my house) was scrutinised by my Maine relatives and they thought it showed a Blue Mountains beaver dam! Wouldn't that be something?

Katy, all OK here. Am hoping that my new meds will help. It doesn't come under the PBS scheme nor can I get a pensioner's discount, so it's pretty expensive. Fuzzies are fine today. Am so relieved that Rishi appears back to normal.

ZombieCarol, like you I have a collection of many thousands of paper books from a lifetime of reading. But I switched over to ebooks nearly ten years ago . . . thanks to Mobi! Now I mainly read on my Kindle Fire. I keep all my ebooks in my Calibre database and have more than 43,000 now. Non-fiction is my thing, but in past years I studied all the classic novels and short stories.

Greetings to Fatima & Alessa. Hope everyone is staying well.

HELLO ALL!
i slept better last night with the new codeine elixir. was feeling bit better this morning but as the day wears on i tank out easily.
PJ food for thought if you have private health insurance they some times help cover non pbs items my mum's menigiccocol vaccine is about $90 so we pay the first $30 bucks then the health fund pays to $30 then the rest we have to pay i know it isn't much but every little bit helps
Kathy hope all is well with you and your lot.
time for another mini nana nap for me i just exhausted day 8 and counting ;-(
be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all

matina, so glad to hear that the new cough medicine worked last night. Hope you'll get another decent sleep tonight. Thanks very much for that useful tip on private insurance cover for expensive medicines. I just checked online with my HCF cover and I don't seem to have that kind of 'Extras' cover . . . but will explore it further tomorrow.

Just had a nice afternoon nap and then was out on the front deck, taking pictures of the sunset.

Fuzzies all well.

kathlyn, it seems like almost everyone here is from Australia! (Or so it seems.) You've got lovely beaches there, right?
Hopefully, it was cooler there than it was here today. *long-suffering sigh*
I used to like paranormal a lot, especially Urban Fantasy, but I (personally) find that Science Fiction Romance does world-building WAY better than Paranormal Romance. Anyhow, I tend to get tired of genres after a few years, then decide to move on and obsess over a new genre. I went through phases of reading only Japanese (contemporary novels), or only Chinese (contemporary novels), or only post-modern feminist works, or English Lit, or 1950's onwards North American Lit... I whiz about reading whatever catches my fancy. Books are really my saviour. Reading is Life. =))

pjmpjm, I'm a crazed book collector. I almost drove myself into bankruptcy, until ebooks, from over-buying books. I still prefer paper books, but it isn't a sustainable habit economically. I do tend to run through kindles fast, though. Firstly, the humid climate here is bad for electronics, and I also read so much that I tend to wear them out and they start to malfunction. =W
I got into non-fiction for a few years, but (sadly) that phase passed. However, the amount you can learn from reading non-fiction is really amazing. I should go back to it sometime.

Have a great day, Matina. Hope you're doing good.

Everyone on here, have a great day!

matina, how are you feeling today? Did the new cough meds help again? Hope so. Cloudy and not so cool today . . . up to 15 degrees . . . but not raining right now. Had some light rain overnight. Check in when you can. Hope your mother is doing well too.

Katy, I hear that this current rain isn't going to last long, even if La Nina lingers on into October. I didn't know that tele-appointments were still possible. Maybe it's only my GP that stopped them. My new prostate meds are supposed to lower my BP even more . . . have been warned about light-headedness. So next time I'll ask him if one of my two BP meds can be reduced or stopped. I was 131/87 the other day, which is excellent for me. My GP had me stop talking and do slow, deep breaths for a while before he took my reading because he knows I usually have a high reading in his office.

ZombieCarol, we welcome everyone from all over the planet here at CC&BC. There are participants from France, Taiwan, Canada, the United States and more from India. I don't know where some Mobi people are from, but probably from the UK and various European countries, plus Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, etc. I like all types of non-fiction but historical mysteries are my current favourite. Am now reading Gian Quasar's book on missing ships. It took a long time before NightKing retrieved the book for me, but it was worth the wait. I've read all of Quasar's other books. Being retired and on a small fixed income, I would never, ever in the million years be able to buy all the books I can now read because of Mobilism. Mobilism genuinely changed my (reading) life, starting in 2014.

HELLO ALL
DAY 9 still coughing during the day. night time is better and am sleeping better at night. have given up on the codeine elixir makes me loopy and nausea too so i switched it to the fireball whiskey hot toddies and works like a charm ;-) but i have now lost my voice have asked the gp if he can come past a do a covid test on mum and me because if it isn't covid there are things i need to tend to. we missed out on our Easter and today is mum's birthday.
zombie honey i too have reverted to YA reading it is lighter and easier to pick back up when most of my life is spent in drs waiting rooms or medical imaging for either myself mum or Satan (aka my father) I love the paranormal vampires werewolves currently reading christine feehan ghostwalkers lightning game have you read her dark series favourite author as too is rhyannon byrd i loved her blood runners series hence my location is blood runner alley. i read to get away from my real life as it is a complete horror story. biographies i find far too dry reading for my liking.
Kathy hope you are having a good day good luck with the teleconsult sending good wishes your way.
PJ goodluck on getting the insurance company to come to the party for the new meds i hope they help and please be extra careful getting up and moving around now don't want any falls ok??
be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all

matina, so glad that you can at least sleep better at night. Yes, I can imagine that the codeine meds might play havoc with your sensibilities. I was taking 'Panadeine' for a time during my hospital recovery. Birthday wishes to your mum! Probably not her best birthday, though. Well, it seems that my HCF insurance won't cover this new med unless I increase the level of my 'extras' cover, and that might cost as much or more than the meds. So I'll wait and see if I'm going to stay on this one. I noticed after talking to my pharmacist that my GP didn't give me any repeats. Anyhow, all my other meds are only $6.80 each, so I guess I'm going pretty well, all things considered. Inflation here is now more than 5% which is a worry. It's even more in the US . . . above 8% there. My pension went up a bit, but not as much as I expected. But yesterday I did receive the one-off $250 payment that the gov paid to all pensioners. Quiet evening here and fuzzies are well. They have two new cardboard boxes! (Photo below shows a minor box dispute.)

matina . . . hoping you had a good sleep last night and that you're feeling better today. Sun has been in and out up here this morning, and it's supposed to get up to 21 degrees this afternoon. Then, next week, winter should well and truly arrive in the mountains, with nights down to 4 degrees. I have enough firewood for nearly a week.

Katy, Rishi kept that box for a long time, but as soon as she vacated it, Sunnya sat on the top lid and squashed it all down! The new second box is also squashed flat. Endless entertainment! Life is an adventure for your grandson and others his age. I can remember a few school outings like that, way back in the day. Once we visited a planetarium and that's stuck in my memory. Am sure he'll have a great time.

Doing a bit of cleaning and tidying up today. Have all my supplies in stock, so won't go anywhere today.

Hello, Friends. How's everyone today? Thanks for your messages. Always good to hear from everyone. :)

I've been busy reading and trying not to melt from this crazed heat wave. So my brain is a puddle.

But I just wanted to say a quick hello, and I'll get back with coherent replies soon, once I'm not being baked over the coals of hell. :(

Much love!

Some puppers to cheer Wolfie up

Remember our lovely Romy going out for adoption - well she was back within 24 hours, apparently the adopters' cat didn't like her :(

We have a new boy on the block, Raga, very handsome, very smart, very bouncy

matina, good to hear that you're gradually on the mend. RATs! What good are they, if we can't trust them? But, anyhow, you came up with a 'negative' and I guess that's got to be worth something. Hope you'll keep feeling stronger, day by day. I'm sure you will.

Fatima, more puppers! Romy, Raga and Jade . . . sure hoping they'll find good homes. My Sunnya and Rishi wouldn't be happy with unexpected canine companionship, so I can understand how Romy came to be returned. Second time lucky for her, I hope.

ZombieCarol, all OK around my house. Temperatures were rather warmish up here in the mountains today, reaching 21 degrees at 2 pm. But winter is on the way and next week we expect nights down around 4 degrees. Really must get my firewood ordered. But I have enough for a couple of days, and maybe more if I forage across the street in the bush! I'm continuing with my daily reading and finding new books here at Mobi every day. I know I'll never finish them all!

What are these pictures, anyhow? Well, the top one is a local flower, found just across the street from my house. I'll have to look up the name unless Katy or matina can help out. I didn't quite get it in focus. The lower one is a strange mural I found in Katooma, right next to some murals showing birds and more naturalistic scenes. I don't know what it is.
