matina, hope you're enjoying a good rest now, after your very busy day. Yes, you created a wonderful winter rose avatar for me, a couple of years ago, that suits me just fine! I still like it. I try to read up on plants that affect cats negatively, so have no lillies. Nor tulips, morning glories, nor daffodils. And there are a few more that are toxic for fuzzies. But I think it was actually daphne that had that temporary effect on Rishi. It's all gone now. Wonderful, isn't it, that we've had so much recent feedback and chat here at CC&BC? I joined up at Mobi in 2014, so am a relative newbie! Well, I took a short winter's walk today, from cliff-edge to cliff-edge across my neighbourhood . . . it was cold but the rain held off, apart from a few sprinkles. Fire going and I'm looking forward to a quiet evening.

matina, all well here today. Sun has been shining, although it was a bit chilly for my outdoor Vitamin D session a while ago. Have been watching my cockatoos and rosellas on the front deck. Hope you're having a good day.

Katy, Rishi seems absolutely normal. I can only suspect some kind of brief allergy attack the other night. Am quite relieved. She's sitting next to me right now, watching the rosellas finish off what the cockies have left. Yes, we can't thank our emergency workers enough. I got to know some of them up here, during our terrible bushfire period. Absolutely wonderful people who restore our faith in humanity during these troubling times.

dyangootje, good to hear from you again. When I have trouble posting at Mobi, I save my work (right click and save to clipboard) and then close Mobi and reopen it. That AC sounds like a good idea. I wouldn't be without one these days. I remember my youth, when we struggled through summers without AC, even in our cars. Now I'm lucky enough to have both AC and a nice fireplace.

Bye for now, everyone . . .

My friend sent me pictures of the koala discovered on the other side of Lithgow, by a wildlife team!

matina, so glad you enjoyed a home day. Good luck with the electric bed search tomorrow. My repair guy left me a voicemail and said he'd be at my house at 9 am tomorrow, to start on the repair jobs. I suspect he'll be working on Friday too, but it would be great if he finishes in one day. I had flowers brought to the house on Friday evening, and I'm blaming those on Rishi's brief snuffle attack. All are gone now! And Rishi seems just fine. She's very sensitive. I promise to be very, very careful while photographing my nearby cliff views. (Sometimes I take them from my front deck . . . )

That is so kind of you to offer Matina, although I do have few white whales that I hunt, it's more the day to day that I was worried about, yes WAS, it has been sorted... yay...still having some technical difficulties but at least I can view the site just can't stream or download... but even if that's all I can ever do, I'm happy with that! Home days are the absolute best, aren't they? Although all my days are home days, gotta love it!! lol... I had an electric bed at one point and loved it, your Mom is in for a treat!!

Glad Rishi has recovered, it's hard when the little luvvies are sick, if they could just tell what the problem is, it wouldn't be so bad, but when you just don't know, the uncertainty/unknown is hard... sounds like you've kept up with your doctoring which is good, once the pandemic hit I haven't been, which is not good, I really need a dental check-up and my glasses redone, but I just can't bring myself to make the appointments... too scared to get sick...

It was such a shock about Olivia, and she seemed like such a wonderful women, sad to see she's gone...

Stretton, thanks for your good wishes for little Rishi. She does seem OK now. It was a worry at 3 am! I've kept up with my eye appointments during the covid but have let my dental work go. But I'll attend to that before the end of the year. Everyone in Oz is missing Olivia . . . she was very much loved.

matina and Katy, will write more later. I have the repair guy here now. He's already got quite a few jobs done. He'll have to come back one more time, though. More on our local black panthers later. I've had some second-hand experiences that I can relate. We also have some Yowie stories from very close to my house. Quite exciting! Bye for now.

matina, glad to hear that your electric bed shopping went well. I can imagine that it was exhausting, though. Have had my nap and am grateful for a good report from my eye surgeon. No appointment needed for another year. Rishi and Sunnya had to hide out (mainly in their usual 'safe place' under the stairs, where they have secret cubby houses) but are happy now, enjoying the evening fire.

Katy, my son tells me there are koalas living around here, even though they're rarely seen. He says that it's very hard to spot koalas out in the bush, unless you know what you're looking for. A woman who used to work for me years ago was featured in a book on the western Sydney and Blue Mountains black panthers. She had one on her roof and recorded it while she was leaving an answering machine message. My bushwalking friend doesn't believe in them, but I do. My brother always used to say that you'll never see a cat of any kind in the wild . . . they always see, hear or smell you first and disappear. Hope you had a good day.

Pj if anyone should be weary of the panther stories it's your friend he goes deeper in the bush :? , when you were bushwalking did you ever get the sense of something out there like you were being stalked :? I read a few encounters some bushwalkers say they've had :? Grant Denyer tv personality has a property in Bathurst he's seen and recorded the cat a few times so yeah I believe theres more than one out there fascinating :D matina now let's see if mum get the bed she wants without interference :? Take care everyone hugs all :D

matina, am off to see my GP in about an hour. Have written out a list of things I need to ask him. Tried to sit out in the backyard this morning, but with no sun it was just too cold. Hope you get all your errands done today.

Katy, I've heard and read too much about the local black panthers not to believe in them. There was a dramatic attack on a teenager in Kenthurst some years ago, when I was living near there, and the local Council had to take notice. However, the truth is, most people never really venture out into the bush, and it's a vast, vast area. My bushwalking friend goes everywhere (or used to) and still claims they can't exist because he's never seen one over the years. Likewise, there are some serious Yowie believers around. Some locals claim that the Katoomba police know all about it, but aren't allowed to say anything publically. Anyhow, I always keep my eyes open when I'm out and about, even though I don't venture nearly as far now as when I was younger.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Moun ... %20century.

'Australian Big Cats: An Unnatural History of Panthers' by Mike Williams and Rebecca Lang investigates the usual 'GI mascot' and 'escaped circus animals' theories as well as the 'marsupial lion' possibility. It's the newest (2010) of only two books on the subject, that I know of. Anyone who reads it immediately realises that the ordinary media knows nothing of the reality of these big cats.

Bye for now, everyone . . .

HELLO ALL!
PJ & KATHY I am firm believer that anything is possible but i also know this if you venture out into the bush and you disturb anything in its natural habitat you should be resigned to accept your luck of the draw and fate (you are after all intruding in on their home and territory) this includes sharks in the ocean. most of humanity decimates everything in its path to make way for its convenience. we are the most destructive species on the planet. we hunt everything for sport even each other. Animals only kill to protect themselves , their families and for food (never for sport) hell we cant even live on the same planet without killing each other on mass under the banners of money drugs land sport terrorism faith race etc and the list goes on and on (oh we show our intelligence on how many thousands of different ways we can kill each other by inflicting the most damage)
thank you for the pictures folks always nice to see them.
night before last i found out 40 days after the fact that one of my first cousins passed away from cancer in Greece aged only 60 years old, devastating news and no one had the decency to let us know, apparently he wanted to speak to us and no one helped him to reach out, I am so VERY ANGRY!!!! and hurt by the rest of the family acting so selfishly, well i guess i shouldn't be surprised it is after all Satan's side of the family. They never loose our address and phone number when there is a special event to be had so we can send them their gifts and money, but then when it is a matter of actual life and death they conveniently misplace it. So we never get to have any chance to say goodbye and get some form of closure. I am so pissed beyond words.
Sorry i shouldn't have vented all this but it just gets too much sometimes the inconsiderateness / unfairness of them all. It i s why i have been in a little isolated bubble of anger grief and feeling unjustly used and abused at their unconscionable behaviour. GROWWWLLLL!!!
well its been a long day and an even longer week, have the optometrist tomorrow morning then home again.
couch time coffee time book time (thinking about dinner) be safe everyone tell folks you love them we are not here forever and neither are they.
WOLF OUT!!!
