matina, I put off my garage cleaning today and will tackle it tomorrow. Instead, I took a short walk and picked up some kindling wood along the street. As well, I got a lot of my laundry done. So I wasn't just lying around doing nothing . . . that is, until I took my afternoon nap! It felt quite cold today, although it was mostly sunny. The wind is always a big factor around here.

Fire going nicely now . . . will start on some book finding soon . . . peaceful evening ahead . . .

matina, hope you're enjoying your pub lunch today! Beautiful, sunny day here, though a bit on the chilly side. Sunnya and I were out in the backyard, in a sunny spot. Will be doing a few chores today . . . nothing strenuous.

Katy, still waiting for Mobi's SMY to 'tick over' to a new day. Hope our friend br bear is OK. Shortage of doctors is a worry, isn't it? Never thought of it while we were young! But at least I have a GP in one of our two Katoomba medical centres who bulk bills and a hospital emergency room less than ten minutes away. Guess others aren't so lucky. But we have lettuce again!

Bye for now . . .

HELLO ALL!
PJ the bulk billing wont last long, we are all paying a $15 gap now ;-( what peeves me off is that we have to pay the full amount of $54.98 to get $39.98 back so we can pay that $15 so if your like me who don't have that amount to pay upfront what happens next i will tell you what will happen when i go back to drs on Tuesday and say bulk bill me and i will give you $15 cash and i want a receipt see what they say to that. because between mum and i we need $109 they take the money from the credit card but they can reimburse us to that card it has to go into a savings account why??? i just don't get it plus the both of us end up having to pay $30 as pensioners we don't have that much to afford. So i will resort to a tele-consult and get my scripts sent out.
KATHY yes dull lives indeed when lettuce was $8 just a few short weeks ago. pub lunch was nice but i swear the servings are getting smaller and smaller, more cost effective to go to a fish and chips takeaway and eat that going to the pub anymore. we had a nice time out since we missed the last weekend. time for me to recharge my e reader and rest on the couch with a nice cup of tea with a splash of rum ;-)
be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all

Sometimes Rishi enjoys a bit of TV . . .

matina, I sure hope that I never lose my bulk billing at my local medical centre. But they only do that for pensioners and I'm not getting any younger! Otherwise, I guess I'll be camping out in the Katoomba Hospital Emergency Ward. Good to hear about your pub lunch, even if portions were smaller, and glad you had a nice rest and read on your couch. I did some chores and laundry today and then enjoyed a nap. Beautiful, sunny weather up here, if a bit chilly this evening. Fire going. All well.

matina, hope your Monday is going well. Check in when you can and let us know what you did. Sunny again today, but rain (or even snow) is due tomorrow.

Katy, posting another Rishi picture. It's hard to get good ones of her. She tends to look away and close her eyes. Will keep trying! Good luck with your yard work. Am now working on my dishwasher guy . . .

FreezeMe! Great pictures! Thanks so much for posting them. Hope you can bounce back and feel better soon. Shame you don't have more than a day to recuperate before work starts.

Bye for now, everyone . . .

HELLO ALL!
PJ :o  Rishi looks like she is telling you no more tv for you, its time to look at me me me time    goodluck getting the dishwasher guy you may have to resort to (do a nurse ratchet) impersonation or at the very least steal his car keys
KRISITNA AWESOME PICS!!! thank you for sharing but i did notice not a lot of people around for a summer crowd :? :? :?
KATHY goodluck with your yard work, yes Snowy had his nails clipped by mum and i had to trim the fur between his toes and nails as they were getting too long. I only did it 2 months ago how quickly they grow back.
He slides around on the tiles we have because of the excess fur    quite funny to watch when he is chasing dogs out in the street from inside the house going from room to room window to window then he suddenly stops and he keeps coasting on by with a confused look on his face and eyes the size of dinner plates trying to figure out what the hell is happening
we Had a nice quiet day at home my cousin in law popped in for a coffee and a chat highlight of the week for me :D love her better than a sister.
We have windy weather and raining just the way i love it the rest of our suburb is out of power but we are fortunate to still be up and running thank goodness :D :D :D thinking on what to have for dinner so tired of coming up with ideas so i guess it will be a plate of carrots celery cheese olives crackers homous dip and ham tomatoes cucumbers etc and slowly snack on everything whilst watching tv :D :D :D
tomorrow dr visit for both ma and I we shall see what happens with the payment problem. :? :? :? then we need to pick up medication at chemist and then home again.
found out last night our techy family friend is in hospital with covid they thought heart failure(but thank god it wasn't) but they drained 3 and half litres of fluid from his right lung, today they were going to drain the left one so waiting to hear some news and no visitors are allowed :( :( :( these days there is nothing but bad news its rampant. :( :( :(
be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all and tell folks you love them no one knows when our time is up have no regrets the people you care about deserve to know how you feel.

matina, hope all is going well for you and your mother and Snowy today. Have been out in the backyard a bit this morning. Nice in the sun but when the wind comes up . . . it's just too much. Sunnya is still out there, though. As Katy has mentioned, we're due some rain this afternoon, and then it's supposed to get quite cold. Will I have some snow pictures for you? Fingers crossed . . .

Katy, here are some backyard flower pictures for you, that I took this morning. Yes, my azaleas are doing well. I inherited quite a few nice bushes from the people who used to live here when I bought the house in 2007. I've added more but gave up on their potato and silverbeet project after a few years. The organic farmers from Hartley Valley were just here half an hour ago, delivering my usual weekly veggie order.

Bye for now, everyone . . .

Hello, all. It’s been a while since I posted here. I have been sorta MIA from Mobi mostly due to my mom. She was diagnosed with Gallbladder Tube Cancer in June. They found it too late and she was already at 4th stage. They couldn’t operate because aside from the main tumor, there were also many small ones and the doctor said it wasn’t feasible. The option was to do chemo but due to my mom’s age and complications (diabetes, high blood pressure, dementia), my brothers and I agreed that it was better not put her through the pain and suffering and to try Chinese medicine to slow down her tumor’s growth. She lost strength on her legs and arms and lost a lot of weight but was holding on until the past couple of days.

She started having difficulty breathing and sitting up or even laying on her back the past few days and last night she was making hurt noises all night. We went to see the Chinese doctor in the morning and she made noises all the way to the hospital. She stopped making the loud noises when we neared the hospital and wasn’t making that much noise anymore by the time we moved her wheelchair off the taxi. Her head was just hanging back and sideways. By the time we reached the doctor’s office her head and just hanging like a limp noodle and her eyes were staring wide open. We rushed her to the ER and they took her right to the Resuscitation room. The doctors said that she had no pulse and they worked on her to revive her. They succeeded to get a pulse after nearly 25 mins but then her heart stopped again 25 mins later. They tried resuscitating her again but had to give up after 30 minutes. She passed away at 12:46pm on August 23rd.

The doctor said that her cancer probably had grown to the point of putting pressure on her lungs and her heart stents, which caused her heart’s arteries to collapse.

Luckily my US brother was still in Taiwan and he hired a mortuary/funeral company and they’re helping to take care of all the details and necessities for her funeral. The Taiwanese Buddhist funeral process is much more complicated than the Western religions. It involves a lot of praying and chanting. Today we spent 6 hours waiting for the mortuary to come pick up her body from the hospital’s temple. My brother, the helper and I were all praying for her so that her spirit could depart from her body peacefully. We also did more praying at the mortuary and finally returned home close to 9pm. We’re all saddened and feeling empty but I know she’s at rest now, without any pain or discomfort. I’m thankful that she didn’t suffer much other than the pain she went through the past 2 days.

We’re waiting for news from my older brother to find out when he’ll be returning to Taiwan to arrange the actual funeral followed by cremation of her body. It’ll probably be mid-September.
