matina, hope all is OK today. I think your friend the tiler is working at your house. But does this mean no pub lunch? How did you sleep last night? Sending lots of good wishes.

Katy, what a great photo! Thanks for sharing. Yes, this time of year the flowers really start to blossom up here in the mountains, and we'll have our Leura Garden Festival next month, plus (I think) a Spring Fair on Leura Mall. Right now it's up to 11 degrees but incredibly windy. I can almost feel the house shake. Sunny but no cockies. A few rosellas turned up and a currawong is busy finishing off yesterday's expensive cat food. As I write, a kookaburra has just turned up as well. Will now try to take a picture of him.

Photos today . . . morning and evening views from my front deck . . . photinias . . . which I think are South African.

matina, glad to hear that you got out to the pub with your mother yesterday and that the tiling is finished. Rest at home today? Hope so. Sunny here, but still a bit windy. Sat out in the backyard with Sunnya for a while, but the breeze finally drove us back inside. Now watching the usual feathery visitors finish off the seeds on my front deck.

Katy, that strange flower you asked about wasn't in my yard. Will have to look it up! But spring is gradually bursting out up here in the mountains. I almost never see rainbow lorikeets around here. Lots of nice rosellas over the past few days. More photos from your backyard are also welcome!

Bye for now, everyone . . .

HELLO ALL!
KATHY thank you yes they were the closest we could get to it cost me $535 bucks all up tiles included while the homecare package folks wanted $2000 to replace 12 tiles
PJ I love the cute little kookaburra claws are out hanging on for dear life he must love that nice cat foot you feed him. Please be VERY careful with the foxgloves. HMMMMM JUST GAVE ME A THOUGHT!!!   i will buy me a packet of seeds on the way home    from the drs tomorrow going to see what he says about my pesky knee problem.
it was a day of rest today just as we were napping and it has happened the last few days 2 calls saying they are from Chinese embassy and they start speaking Chinese i hang up because i don't speak /understand Chinese and today they said Japanese , :? :? so i have no idea what the fluff is going on.
it is annoying when one is trying to rest and recover from losing a loved one. you feel like reaching out and touching someone with a ROLLED UP HEAVY WET NEWSPAPER ACROSS THE BACK OF THE HEAD!! :? :? :?
Time for a coffee and some of the orange cake mother made ;-) since there is no chance of getting back to sleep now.
Also Satan called saying someone had dropped off a box /parcel saying it was either for me or from me :? :? :? well i know i haven't sent him anything as for it being for me i haven't lived at that address since i was 18. so we shall see what the mystery is when i also go down there to install his U.P.S battery back up for the modem for his phone (yes that saga still hasn't finished)
well be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all. tell folks you love them before they have gone our family has lost 2 family members and a friends mum oversees too so its been a very crappy shitty year for us :( :( :( :(

matina, those have got to be the best spam phone calls ever! The Chinese Embassy? Oh, boy! I guess an immediate hang-up is the best way to go there, unless you want to practice your Mandarin. Glad you liked my kookaburras. That used to be my brother's favourite Australian bird. Yes, they really love that 'old' cat food in the morning (still in pretty good condition, of course). Hope you can make some progress tomorrow with your doctor, about your knee. I'll be seeing my GP too, and discussing my medications . . . in preparation for seeing my cardiologist next month. And I hope you get your mystery box sorted out. Could be interesting. I finally received my extra Fire ereader cable this morning, after waiting two weeks. It was sitting quietlÿ on my doorstop and marked as from someone named 'Glenn Humphrey' in Norwich, England. However, I'd ordered it from Amazon Oz . . . but obviously they just off-loaded my order. Anyhow, Glenn sent what I wanted, so I have no complaints.

Katy, by the way, that earlier flower photo turned out to be a King Protea. I finally had to do a Google Image search. (I usually ask my Lithgow bushwalking friend, who knows all the plants.)

So . . . have gone on long enough . . . will say good night to everyone now . . . might get the fire going soon . . .

Little golden brown dove on my back deck . . .

matina, hope you're right now getting a good report and some useful recommendations from your doctor. Please let us know. Sunny in the mountains today and the temperature has gone up to 16 degrees . . . warmest day so far. Actually feels like spring, since there's no wind. Sunnya and I were relaxing out in the backyard this morning and two king parrots visited us, staying in the tree just over my head, but well out of Sunnya's reach. When I moved to the back of the garden, they followed me!

Katy, hope you can find the flowers you want. When I lived in The Hills, there were nurseries everywhere. But we have several in the Katoomba-Leura area. I guess it's because the annual Leura Garden Festival has always been a big deal in these parts. Anyhow, must start to get ready for my own doctor's appointment, at 3:30 this afternoon. Have all my BP readings written out and averaged (150/89, best ever in recent years) to show how my new meds have worked. But I suspect my readings aren't right. I faithfully collected 58 of them over the past week, but they can vary a lot.

Well, I'll close and check back in again later.

Bye for now . . .

matina, so sorry to hear that news. Hope the cortisone injection helps and that you can sleep better tonight. My brother used to get them for his back and shoulders. And hope that your cancellation will come through. Tomorrow I have to start on a booking for my recommended 24-hour BP test and rearrange my car maintenance. Will send you a PM soon.

Hello

Morning Pj that's the sentinel cocky who used to sit on the top railing on your deck I'd know his evil eyes anywhere  my bp had been good at home yet when I go to the gp it shoots up  :? maybe the Dr needs to review what meds your on for bp :? I think the monitor makes it worse it stresses you just having to wear it :? Sit with the fuzzies they'll lower it :D matina I'm looking at the seed company thankyou :D to buy an established Protea is very pricey :? I hope you had a better night :? We're off to do some shopping :D
Take care everyone :D

matina, sure hope that cortisone injection is still working. Please keep us posted. Rain on the way here, but hasn't arrived yet. Grey and about 12 degrees. I've made my three necessary phone calls . . . car service booked, 24 BP monitor booked and a general surgeon (in Bowenfels, of all places) to look at eventually removing my now-greatly-diminised cyst. Now for a quiet afternoon!

Katy, you know, I think having Rishi sleeping on my lap really does lower my BP. Yesterday's photo of my greeters in Katoomba showed (I think) Conrad up on the flower bed, with his wife Emily just behind. At least, it looked like them . . . No more appointments this week and of course Friday is our one-off public holiday. Waiting for the forecast rain and will soon see if I've successfully fixed the front deck!

Hi to all the CC&BC regulars . . . and thanks to Diva for the contest notifications.
