matina, so glad to hear about the life-saving, food-saving generator! What a good friend! We had a lot of wind here oveernight but no damage done, thank goodness. A bit of rain on and off and a couple of thunderstorms that came a bit too close for comfort. Hope that SA's power stays up and running now.

Katy, yes, am giving myself at least a week and maybe two to feel better. Didn't sleep well last night so will take a nap soon. That was a leopard featuring in one of Leura's famous boutique shops. So many nice things . . . the tourists love these shops. Brief sit out in the sun, in the backyard, with Sunnya, but it was really a bit too windy. Rishi stayed in bed!

Bye for now, everyone . . .

matina, a couple of Maine pictures for you. The top one still brings a tear to my eye. I sat here, at this view, with my brother, back in 2017. This is the view from the front veranda. Don't know if I'll ever go back to that house. My niece and nephews are now tidying everything up and making sure that all the memorabilia is well organised. It's starting to get cold there, but no snow as yet. One of my nephews may possibly move into the house next year . . . 300 acres of forest (with moose) overlooking the ocean and National Park. My brother built the house with his father-in-law in 1973. And below is a shot taken about a month ago, from one my brother's young friends, Nick . . . who has now become a professional photographer.

Good night, everyone . . .

matina, hope things are getting better in Adelaide. Please keep us posted. I'm getting ready to take the PM (Rishi) over to Lisa the vet later this afternoon. Am very hopeful that her blood iron count hasn't dropped too much.

Katy, my family has the same idea as you . . . the house needs someone living in it. They may drain the pipes after Thanksgiving to get it through the winter (-20 to -30 temperatures sometimes) and then do some refurbishment in their spring and summer. Much of the old and non-sentimental furniture is gone now and my sister-in-law's office (she was an RN all her life) is completely cleaned out. I'm sure your daughter and grandchildren will do OK with the Covid . . . the younger folks seem to get through it fairly well. My niece and her family said that their children tested positive but showed hardly any symptoms. She and her husband suffered a bit but all have recovered 100%.

Will sign off now . . .

My son was down in the Tenterfield (NSW) area last week, doing the same koala rescue work, and surveying known habitats.

HELLO ALL!!
PJ so nice to remember your brother and i am sure you will go back and go and have a coffee and enjoy the view and remember him to get your closure. Fantastic news that your nephew will move into there to live on in that house, otherwise i am very happy to be a permanent house sitter if they want one ;-) Your brothers friend is very very talented but hard to go wrong when god and mother nature provide such gorgeous masterpieces screaming to be immortalized forever. Truly gods country that is for sure. Your son seems to have the photographic gene too and hello handsome Mr koala who's a big ball of fluff but watch out for that splicing manicure ;-)
KATHY wishing your daughter and family a speedy recovery whatever you make them make sure to add lots of ginger turmeric and garlic they will be better in no time. please keep us posted.
oh PJ wishing Rishi a good vet visit. let me know when your home safe.
we did a little bit of shopping and went to doctor appointments all ok then home. I need to have a shingles vaccine as i am always around elderly who seem to be catching it but government has made the vaccine free for over 70's some one like me who has immunity issues still have to pay for it. 1 there are low stock of it and hard to get a hold of and 2 the price is $195 ;-0 :o  :? so now i will know where all my xmas money will go toward :( :( :(
time for coffee
Be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all.

matina, Rishi's late afternoon vet appointment was a peaceful one. Her usual vet, who knows her well, said that her blood iron was down again and so she's back on the steroid, which helped her so much in the past. She's already picked up this evening and looks a lot better, and acts a lot happier. So . . . it looks like Rishi may have to remain permanently on a very low dose of the steroid, which the vet says she should tolerate OK. Glad your own appointments went well today. Sure hope you can avoid the shingles. I feel very lucky to be old enough to have all my meds free . . . but wish I was younger . . .

A local Blue Mountains photographer took this amazing shot (below) . . .

HELLO ALL!
PJ sounds the vet has it sorted for rishi bless her. nice pictures i loved the don't lick your fingers it is a lot better than Satan looking at magazines when at drs appointments and spitting on his fingers to change the pages OH LORD HELP ME!!!
KATHY so sorry to hear your daughter isn't well;-( i know how hardy she normally is, I am hoping she gets over this as soon as possible but it is nice to hear your granddaughter whips the boys into shape may be a good thing indeed hoping they keep it up even after your daughters recovery to help ease the load.
had a home day today headache that wont go away and leaves you in a confused clouded over muddled mindset. I am sure it is the accumulation of all the stress of the black out and coping with mothers antics thank the lord Satan's power remained on so i didn't have to deal with that as-well.
signing off and going to see what to have for dinner and take some more medication.
be safe take care and god bless you all

Dramatic sky today . . . no rain to speak of up here in the mountains, but we had a few brief spits and spats of hail earlier today. I was worried about another big storm on the way, like that one that peppered my car a few months back, but it didn't amount to anything. I was over in Katoomba at the time, meeting up with my famous bush-walking friend from Lithgow.

matina, I hope you're getting over the headache this evening. Yes, no doubt caused by stress. I was never one for Panadol, but now take it (never more than a couple every 4-5 hours) and it often helps me a lot. At least you're at home and I hope that means more rest. Keep us posted.

Katy, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's covid. Sounds very much like when my niece's family got covid, a few months ago. The kids didn't show much in the way of symptoms, but my niece and her husband took nearly two weeks to recover. But recover they did, and I'm sure your daughter will do the same. Sending lots of good wishes to everyone in your family.

Rishi has been getting lots of Feliway, which I'd tried sporadically in the past, without seeing much effect. This time, however, it seems to help her a lot. She's even been more friendly with her sister. (Their relationship has been very prickly since Rishi's big eye op, when she had to wear a cone.) Last night Rishi slept peacefully on the bed all night, and today she's been sitting in various places, happily watching the world, and enjoying the occasional nap.

Quiet evening here . . .

matina, hope you're feeling OK today. I was out and about at Katoomba yesterday, meeting up with my friend, but had a reasonable sleep last night, so am feeling pretty well myself this afternoon. Sat out in the backyard with Sunnya this morning, while she patrolled and looked for bugs and frogs. My birds know enough to stay up in the trees. Tiny shower last night but the sun has been in and out here with no rain for the last few hours. A bit on the cool side . . .

Katy, so glad to hear that your daughter is starting to feel better. The younger people seem to throw off covid soon enough. Sending good wishes. Rishi's vet has recommended Feliway several times, but, like you, I was skeptical. They sell it at the vet clinic in Wentworth Falls. However, this time I persisted in spraying around for several days and it's seemed to pay off. I read quite a few reviews online and was pleasantly surprised by the reported positive results. Anyhow, so far, so good.

I still don't know what that licking of fingers is all about. Might have to ask the newsagent next time I'm there. Very weird.

Bye for now, everyone . . .

HELLO ALL!
PJ so glad to hear rishi is feeling more relaxed. oh the licking fingers is most folks do it to get better tracking on books and magazines to be able to turn the pages more efficiently. not thinking of just what they are spreading and or who else may have done so before them. My rheumatologist told me when i was on metotrexate (a drug that lowers the immuine system) to avoid touching money and magazines and doorknobs with out gloves. money because it is kept in some very unusual dirty places like underwear shoes bras etc not to mention how many hands have touched it and what it is carrying magazines too for this reason and especially at drs offices doorknobs and trolleys.
KATHY (NICE PIC)! i hope your daughter and family recover soon and are back to normal in no time. you could kill the teacher that spread it to the kids GROWL!!! i have had another home day head is still a little out of sorts but getting better it didn't help when i watched a tv series called "FROM SCRATCH" just as i was improving it made me cry went through a box of tissues so be forewarned but well worth the watch.
time for more panadol and a cup of coffee
be safe everyone and god bless and be with you all

matina, thanks for info on the 'finger licking' phenomenon . . . That was a real puzzle for me. I could only think of KFC . . . Amazing what people get up to . . . Hope you're feeling a bit better this evening. I had a nap at 4 pm and then a couple of Panadol and am OK for now. Avoiding my usual cup of tea to see if that helps me sleep later.

Here's a flower from my backyard . . .
