What about the City Building Series ? Each game is set in a different civilization - Rome , Egypt , Greece , China etc . My fav is the greece one - Zeus Master of Olympus .

turn based, 'cause i got to admit real time it's sometimes to quick for me, and stressing.

hmmm, i also like games which have an interesting story, that's why i liked heroes 3 a lot. and games in which you build a civilization, but in most games in which you build and exploit resources you also must build armies and fight the enemy until you annihilate them, and that's not my style.

caesar 3 (which is real time, but not too quick for me), was also interesting, building a city, exploiting resources, opening trading routes... never heard of the city building series.

@anarcrazy: i heard a lot about the sims, but never played/seen one of them.

The city building series is purely city building . You have to build a city . Make roads , build houses , entertainment venues , gardens , farms , storehouses , taxes , wages - pretty much like running a real city . In the greek one , the gods visit you occassionally and ask you to make temples . Sometimes they're angry and attack your city and your patron god fights backs . It's fun . Sometimes monsters attack you . You have to invite heroes to fight them .

But whether you have troops or heroes depends on how well you run your city . So it's basically just city building in all it's glory .
