This issue is startling, amazing, beautiful, by far one of the best miniseries of the year… possibly the last 5 years.

J.M DeMatteis pulls off something incredibly with this miniseries: the transcendene of genres, a critical observation of heroes, and the human morality and corruption that resides in all of us.

I said with the first issue that “I will buy every issue, every trade paperback, everything reading-wise that has to do with this series.” That’s just how good it is. For comic readers and non comic readers alike, this is a phenomenal series.

It took DeMatteis allegedly 20 years to get this basic story seen in print, and I’m glad it finally did now because I believe the timing couldn’t be any better; commenting on terrorism, human hypocrisy, and other sorts of things to still come out with the same solution: hope. Communication and our beliefs to our cause will allow us to reach new heights.

Sure, this comic may come across as a little word-y for the average comic fan, but I challenge that person to read in between the lines of what the words mean. And yes, the art may come across as too general for a story with realism at its core, but I challenge the people who think that to reason why this sort of art style was chosen.

I implore anyone to pick up the Trade Paperback of this book, it may very well become one of the best things you’ve read in your whole lifetime.

The score reflects the issue, and the success of this series as a whole.
