Robur by Jean-Marc Lofficier, Randy Lofficier and Gil Formosa.
Requirements: CBR Reader, 172 MB / 90 MB.
Overview: In 1901. Professor Kavor realized his dream of being the first man on the moon, annexing the name of his most gracious majesty, Queen Victoria ... "
1916 ... While the Great War in full swing, the Selenites, a strange alien civilization based on metal, invade Earth to steal its mineral research. NewYork, 1931: A resistance group led by the reckless adventurer-scholar Robur faces the Machiavellian Gurn, head of the Black Guard to deliver the Selenite Kavor professor, a scholar whose knowledge could help get rid of oppression Selenite ...This album is quite the current trend of the current steampunk genre that is a rewriting of the past by the subtle blend of literary and historical references with fantasy and science fiction. Steampunk is actually a reflection of what might have been the past if the futureor rather certain technological advances had arrived earlier.
Here, the references abound, nod to Jules Verne on one side, disguised references to Flash Gordon of another culture is such that the writer take up all references is a daunting task. These elements included in an early 20th century give a completely redesigned thrilling tale, magnified by stunning graphics, precise and dynamic at once.
Jean-Marc Lofficier is a mythical figure of the ninth art to whom we owe many books on the subject. It is also the author of a multitude of scenarios for the biggest names in comics (The rest of the Airtight Garage, with José Transilvane Ladronn, Tongue * Lash ...), and know that this French expatriate in Los Angeles was also the creator of Starwatcher Graphics, a company that managed the rights of Moebius / Giraud in the States. Note that the name of Jean-Marc Lofficier is inseparable from that of his wife Randy, the latter contributing to almost all projects of her husband!
Gil Formosa finally returns to comics after years of absence (during which he will shine in fields as diverse as advertising or animation). Recall that Formosa was an early drawing of the heroic-fantasy series with Cargal the early 80s.
In this album, the graphics of Formosa explodes, the harmonious blend of features "classic" and inlays to the computer to which you add a particular palette of colors, contribute to the sometimes oppressive atmospheres of fighting, sometimes freezing the cosmos, not to mention the feeling of gigantism at the sight of this strange New York in 1931.

- I like Jean-Marc Lofficier, it's a smart guy. Born into one of our best business schools, he went across the Atlantic where he now lives with his wife Randy. It tries to convert Americans to the beauty of comics and French thriller. He is in "shakespeare languague" excellent essays on heroes precursors of French popular literature.
As its basic idea to take Robur, the character of Jules Verne to present it in a science fiction uchronic (but not steampunk because if I saw the punk I have not seen the steam) was wildly original.
In addition to drawings by Gil Formosa are formo ... dables.
Brief but good things ...... except that the story has neither tail nor head and balance to outdo, photographs, evidence and other nonsense.
