A .CAB file a day, for mobile users on the way, keeps installation problems away...

< .CAB file(s) added to opening post. > - unless specified all .CAB files are Rapidshare links

Why should one install a CAB-file?

- direct download/install to the device, without polluting desktop PC by useless installed files
- CAB files are trusted. no viruses, no trojans
- Look HERE to find out how to install a .CAB file

I got an error concerning my .NET Compact Framework installation... just some fuzzy numbers, unclear like always with Microsoft error messages. Re-installed .NET Compact Framework 2.0 on my device, still the same error. Checked for a newer version on Microsoft site, there is none.

Anyone have any idea what's going wrong? I have it installed on my T-Mobile Vario (HTC Wizard).

The Error message is (party Dutch) like this:

Kan bestand- of assembly-naam System.Windows.Forms, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969DB8053D3322AC of een van de afhankelijkheden hiervan niet vinden.

Translated it must be something like:

Cannot find file- or assembly-name System.Windows.Forms, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969DB8053D3322AC or one of the depedencies.

When tapping [Close] I get a long .NET CF-installation error with support information number:

-2147483643 (80000005)

Like always, Microsft leaving me entirely in the dark about this. :?

Okay, using Google I got to the XDA-Developer forum, which linked back to PPCWarez.org for the .cab download of .NET Compact Frameword 3.5. Huray, stupid me, should have looked for that right here in the first place.

Downloaded and installed 3.5, but the error still remains. Seemed like 3.5 didn't uninstall 2.0 by itself, so I was now running both or maybe just one (wrong) version of it. Got extremely bored with Microsoft at this point. Uninstalled 3.5, uninstalled 2.0, rebooted device (just to be sure) and again re-installed 3.5, rebooted again and guess what... still the same f**k**g errors! :x

Does anyone have any idea what I'm doin' wrong here? :(

Finally got the thing to work. Seems like I needed to install sqlce.ppc.wce5.armv4i.CAB, some sort of mobile SQL thingie. Didn't get that from the installation instructions, but found it somewhere on de XDA-Developer forum.

So, basically my three posts are not nessecary anymore, but maybe someone else can use this information when running into the samen problems and at least I got 30 cents of WRZ$ for my own efforts. ;-)
