unfortunately, I don't think there's a workaround to the contacts synchronization. :(

Guys for those of you who hate having your msn contacts on your phone contacts list, there is a workaround.

Use at your own risk! I've heard that if you've binded any phone contacts with a messenger account, it may delete it from your contacts as well, but that hasn't happened to me (WM6, Qtek9000) not yet anyway. So just in case, backup your contacts through outlook first!

Here goes:

- Log on normally and use windows live messenger
- Close WLM when you finish chatting
- Go to Windows Live, select Account Options, select "Switch Accounts"
- Do not enter another account when prompted, just cancel.

Voila, msn contacts are gone from phone contacts list.

Let me know if this helps :)

Dealbreaker #1: Installs itself to Main Memory. BIG NO-NO!

Dealbreaker #2: Forces the synching of contacts from MSN. WTF?

I uninstalled WLM once I figured out the above and that there's no real workaround for either. No thanks. Whoever at M$ thought this crap up needs to be shot. What an idiot.

WTF?? I'm using it with WiFi! I have an Axim x51v and I have a connection configured to use data through my cell phone via BT also, but if I'm not connected to the phone it works via WiFi.

In my case, apparently WLM tries first to use the BT connection. I turn WiFi on first and then launch WLM. Even having a correct connection through WiFi, I get a "Cannot connect" message when it tries BT, but then I click on "Hide" and it connects normally through WiFi.

my WLM says:
"There's a connectivity problem. Make shure you're in an area with good phone reception and try again."

this is the message with WiFi ON or Active Synch. (phone ON always)

if i turn WiFi OFF, it connects with GPRS...
:@ grr
i do not understand... i must use this MSN because "pocket MSN" is a crap..

I installed this, then quickly uninstalled it for reasons people have already been into above. However, it gave me an error that said it didn't uninstall correctly and now every time I reset my phone a sync screen pops up and the phone locks up completely, and is useless. How do I get in and stop whatever's left of this from starting up? If I don't enter my phone's passcode and just let it sit on the screen with that it doesn't lock and I can dock it and explore the files on it with activesync, but I don't know where to look.

Release Tester's Review

Tested/Working on: WM5
Not working on : n/a
Not tested on : PPC2002-2003,WM6
Rating: Originality: 8/10 - Quality: 9/10 - Performance vs similar products:: 8/10 -- Average: 8/10
Comment: Great upgrade by msn to go from the msn messanger to the windows live, interface is so much better and the ability to select your display picture is a nice touch. Also another very nice feature that was added is playing and sending voice clips, this is especially what I enjoy being able to do with my contacts. Also being able to add it to the today screen in WM5 with your display picture and status is very user friendly to me, great app.

it installed fine on my hp 6925, but it added a bunch of contacts to my address book (VERY BAD).... then I deleted them from outlook > Synced > the contacts were deleted from MSN messenger!!!!!!!!!

I then went to MSN > Tools > Options > Privacy > right click each one and click add to contact list......
