1. The file transfer is over the Bluetooth when you and your buddy are in a close range and both are using the Bluetooth.
2. OctroTalk resizes to avoid overlap with the screen keyboard (SIP) of HTC Touch.
3. The issue of relaunch from the Start menu or Program menu fixed.
4. Improvement in the VOIP quality for low bandwidth codec and reduction in the CPU usage.

1. Some minor bug fixes.
2. In the buddylist view some Menu options can be accessed by tap and hold.
3. Option to set your default status when you login.
4. Support to add colorful emoticons in your message.
5. Chat View preferences to adjust the font size and colors of the text messages.
Version 1.18
1. Several other minor issues fixed.
2. License expiry now totally server based. This build has no hard expiry date.
3. Bug introduced in chat window fixed -- where a hyperlink in the text caused the color of the text to be changed.
4. Auto-reconnect logic for legacy accounts. If a legacy connection becomes unavailable, OctroTalk will try to reconnect to it.
Version 1.17
1. Support for Jabber conferencing (Group Chat).
2. TABs for buddies (in multi tab view) are arranged automatically, and a colored icon is displayed to show new message.
3. This version will work until May 31st, 2007
4. If you share a folder, there is now an option to search the current folder for a file or file type.
Version 1.16
1. Other minor UI changes, and bug fixes.
2. Changes for Legacy accounts, so that status changes are more consistent.
3. You can now connect to any Jabber account - not just GTalk

Well I think so, files can be transfered also via bluetooth, but not only

Its not freeware "OctroTalk is currently in BETA, and is available for download.
The pricing of the product has not yet been decided, and will be decided during the product BETA period. The product has an over the air (OTA) upgrade mechanism, and will notify you when a new version becomes available."
