I don't want to bother with registeration, unless the program requires it, which I doubt it.

you can also do this:
unzip the file and go into folder
[1] MobileClient (C#, NETCF2)\KScanner\bin\Debug\ and copy the 5 files you will find there into a folder on you ppc.
Then create a shortcut to KScanner.exe and you are ready
