Im not a tablet owner, but I maybe one day. I believe it deserves its own section, as more tablet focused apps will be available in teh future. Already there are versions of the app just for the tablet.
Im not exactly sure what members here mean by "more things to shift through". Adding a section for tablet means less things to shift through for tablet users.
I also want to make a poll like this. I want to ask the members via a poll if they would like a section on android just for audio related apps, and if we can have the ebook section divided into sections the way a bookstore is.

At first thought , i think of course there needs to be a tablet sections. But really there may not. Like said before most apps aren't optimized for tablets, and many apps are but can also be used on a phone. This would require double posting or phone users to have to venture into tablet sections for some apps. My thought is would it be possible to put on a post similar to the check marks out to the left, some symbol to show "tablet optimized" on the post. Or simply saying it in title? Because I, a tablet user, just look at every app, and see what i like. So And now with the zoom to fit with honeycomb 3.2 its not AS big of a deal anyways. So i would have to go to the tablet sections browse, then return to the phone section and browse again. Not sure if most are like me or not in the more browsing and less specific searching, but i think it would be easier just to look through them all like usual and if one is tablet optimized, "OoOooO" click. I dunno just my 2 cents.

Tablet section would be very nice even if just to filter out what apps are truly optimized for tablets/large screen.
Only problem is that some apps will apply to both phone and tablet equally?
perhaps it might be better to have a *TABLET* flag or something somewhere to be able to identify / filter / search on *TABLET* apps?

I myself use a TAB (GT P1000) but don't see necessary for a tablet section is necessary, since they share many common software with the non-tablet ones. However, it would be meaningful to specify if there is any particular software only suitable for a certain platform. Thanks

It really doesn't matter either way. I have downloaded a lot of apps in the android section that work on tablets. Just put a header in the title or something along those lines. You're going to create redundancy with essential two similar forum sections.

The numbers of people that want an android section is high but there is not much backup for it. At the moment, its seems tagging an app/game as tablet friendly is more practical.
Please give more stronger justification if you guys really want a tablet section.

Yes!! Please a tablet section would be great. Just picked up an Acer A500 and would be most usefull in speeding up finding apps specific to tablets.

With the current Android tablets being quite low in numbers, yet quite diverse in chip and OS specifications, unlike the Apple gismos which have standard specs as they are all produced under the same roof. The idea of a android tablet section will be hard work, currently most apps put on here are described as to what they are capable of running on. The question you may want to ask is: How many people that use this site own an Android tablet before posting another section up.

As far as I know "most" applications, games and etc. would work on both phone and tablet with some restrictions on the unit android OS version. I agree with the point that having to separately post for both phone and tablet capable applications would be too much of a hassle for the poster.
I think the only improvement required is letting readers know the apps screen size support. Maybe there's a need to have a screen parameter in the posting template.
This is about the only thing that bothers me. I have both phone and tablet. Almost all the time, apps works on both unit. However it would look good on the phone but sucks on the tablet because of the bigger screen resolution support.

I think a tag is very much the best bet. Many apps are BOTH phone and tablet optimized in one apk. So a tablet section will only double the efforts of and posts of releasers.
I have tested seriously over 400 apps on my Xoom tablet. Almost every single one works fine (with spareparts to enlarge some apps), games haves more fails, but like I said it is almost always because of the Tegra GPU (gameloft for example) not because "its a tablet". So in these cases the GPU is the important requirement.
Also.. "tablet" is just a word to describe a "non phone sized device".. there are MANY out there and many that still just run 2.1 - 2.3 that are all "phone versions" of Android. So any of those CANT run any Honeycomb "tablet apps". So in this case, the OS version is the important requirement.
Once IceCreamSandwich 4.0 comes out later this year, there will no longer be separate phone vs tablet OS versions.. they will be one. Making the line between phone and tablet vvery fine, and screen size or cell service being the only differences. So here the important requirement is back to OS version or GPU type.
The only way a new section seems any better than just using new or better post tags is for the section to be for apps/games that ONLY work on 3.0 or higher OS. This will make the list very very short, and won't duplicate entries with the pphone section. BUT will segregate those apps from the others, making more places to have to look through for new stuff.
It only makes sense to just buff up the post formatting with OS version requirements and GPU requirements... or just get more posters to be accurate about it.

Thats really a non-issue as long as the rule is only"specific for talets för posts.
