Ive spend the last week looking for tablet apps.
The problem isnt to find apps in general. The problem is to find apps which use the bigger screen or better gpu of the tablet.

A tablet category within the android software and android games sections would be great to identify the few but very useful apps which are designed just for the tablets.

Hi, I have been looking at a few tablets and yes I think a new section would be handy. Just to point out the differences.

There is an iphone and an ipad section. Why wouldn't there be an android and an android tablet section? Makes sense to me.

I agree with proper tagging of releases to specify if they are tablet friendly. Ive d/l'ed very few apps that will not work in some way. With the introduction of hc 3.2 and the "this app was not designed for tablets" button havent found any apps that were unusable for me, but of course im not looking for them. What about a special emoticon to signify these apps that work, or tags that can be updated by users (such as: works on xoom running 3.2, Galaxy tab not supported). We, the users, could supply our experiences w/ said app since a single releaser may not be able to test on all platforms and devices running the many different versions that we currently have on our tabs. I, personally, dont feel we need a seperate forum to browse. I like being able to spot apps for my phone and tab by browsing a single forum. Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts.

It's simple really. It's a Must for us tablet owners and many more tablet owners will soon be here also looking for tablet compatible stuff.
Games are a real pain in the arse to find for tegra 2 tabs. So yes a tablet section is a must. Especially when you see how many people are buying these things. They have really took off now and the advent Vega is a great seller and has great specs for a tablet under £200 It's superb with a custom rom and they are rooted new from the box and virtually unbrickable. Pcworld and currys have just got more stock in and they are selling super fast. I saw three sold in under an hour when I was in Currys last weekend.
So yes yes yes to a tablet dedicated section. :O)

It would be much more easier to choose the appropriate applications for the tab users. The numbers of them is quickly growing day by day.

I believe that a tablet section is necessary but there has to be some rules as to what are classified as tablet apps. I suggest you look at Tablified.com to address the issue of what is or is not a tablet app. These guys did a pretty good job of finding tablet apps and they are adding more all the time. The difference between this site and some of the other lists floating around on the net is that the apps displayed on Tablified.com are tablet SPECIFIC apps. Meaning that the UI of the app must be a lot different than a phone app. I guess they have some criteria thst must be met before adding an app because I tried sending in a few apps for them to add but a couple were denied because they didn't meet the specification to be called a Tablified app. If you're not gonna bother distinguishing apps between tablets and phones then theres no need for a tablet section. If you use the apps displayed on the site then I think its a good idea, if not, then there's no point.

I own a tablet (A500), but voted against the separate section. But it should be clearly written in the app description (or proper tags should be used) if it will/will not work on a tablet, or if it is a tablet specific/optimized app.

Why I voted Yes:

I bought an LG Optimus Pad as my first android device (have an ipad2 and an iphone, but getting tired of apple hoops) Most of the apps i got wont run on the tablet and there wasnt any indication that they wouldnt run.
Maybe its just me cos I'm new to android but it bothered me.

The normal Android Apps work fine on most Tablets that are not running Honeycomb, but about 85% are not running on Honeycomb, so there should be a pure Honeycomb Section.

A tablet section gets my vote for sure. I dont really understand why anyone would be against this. Thankfully there is overwhelming support for it.

I don't understand how trying one out could hurt. It seems as if many users with tablets like myself (Xoom) want a dedicated section because we are having issue utilizing the site for our tabs. People also post Apps to be downloaded from sites that aren't honeycomb friendly. I've used this site with my evo for quite a while and still use it since i added my tablet and i would appreciate things to run a bit smoother for us with honeycomb. We are stating reasons that are valid to us and you want us to give a reason that's good enough for you. I don't see that as fair or logical. Especially since there are so many in agreement
