Hi everyone, if this is in the wrong forum my apologizes. So I am going to be purchasing my first Android phone from T-Mobile and I dont know which one to get, the Samsung Galaxy or the HTC Sensation..I guess what I am most concerned with is being able to install games found on this site onto the phone. Do I need to have the phone rooted in order to install apk apps from here or is that not necessary? I dont know how to root and I did not wish to do so so if I can install apps/games without doing that that would be great. I am not sure if the HTC Sensation can even be rooted but I have heard about the Samsung Galaxy being able to..now as far as installing apps from here, how does it work, how would I know which app can work for my device and how do I go about installing the apps onto my phone(As far as knowing which apps are compatible with the phone or not). Its between those two phones since I have not seen another phone from t-mobile that interests me. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

I appreciate your help..but I was wondering, for lets say the Samsung Galaxy phone, how do I know which apps work with that phone and which ones dont? I have gone on the android market online but they dont specify which apps work with each phone. Tomorrow I am going to my local T-mobile store to compare the two phones..the samsung galaxy s 2 isnt even available for t-mobile(At least not here in the US) so I would be getting the S model if I choose to get that one I was just concerned with the apps itself maybe not being compatible..glad to hear that I dont have to root the phone, I have seen youtube videos of it and it looks WAY too hard for me to do

Normally, whether an app will work depends on its OS not the brand/model. But of cause there are some very rare occasions. Exception are games that have hardware requirements such as tegra.

Galaxy S2 and Sensation both runs Android 2.3 so any app that is design for android 2.3 will work on both phone.

That's great news, the reason why I was concerned is because my sister's husband he has the T-mobile google phone. I think its called the gx2 he said that some of the games he tries to install won't work(He downloads those free games from the android market) so I was worried maybe some would not work for me, so any game that says for Android 2.0+ means it will work on 2.3? Also, I assume the apps posted here are the full game because I know that some games on the Android market are already free but with Ads but the games posted here should not have Ads on them

Yes android 2.0+ means version 2.0 and above including 2.3. Apps/games here are full version.

For me i prefer the galaxy s2 over sensation. But historically or at least from what i read, HTC devices have less app compatibility issues than Samsung mainly because app developers tend to solve issues for HTC devices first as there are more HTC users.

I am in the HTC camp. Slightly less RAM that the Galaxy S2 but I prefer the SuperLCD screen on the HTC to the SuperAMOLED on the Samsung. I also like the feel of the Sensation in my hand, feels less plasticky.

Either way, both phones are awesome.

So I went ahead last night and ordered the Samsung Galaxy S 4G(Not the S2 since its not available here in the US and who knows when it will be available)..the phone was free online so that is why I got it otherwise I would have purchased the HTC Sensation..but now I read how the Samsung phone only comes with 1gb of internal memory(It comes with 16gb microsd card which is fine but I am concerned with the internal memory) I also read how this particular phone comes with some apps already installed on the phone which cannot be removed unless I root the phone which I dont plan on doing..so what I am wondering is since the phone comes with 1gb of internal memory, is that enough for me or am I going to have to worry that I wont have enough space? I was thinking if I could take the apps that I get from here and install them on the microsd card, can I do that..and which apps can do that since I Read that some apps require the internal memory..thanks
