If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Android post it here.

Hello everyone

As you can see by the title I am new to the whole android craze. Two days ago I purchased a Velocity Cruz T301 Tablet.
So far it's been alright, a little laggy in my opinion but bearable.

Anyways the reason for this thread is to find out what software(apps) you would recommend to me, seeing as how I am new.
Also any game suggestions would be appreciated also.

Another question I have; What is rooting and ROM's? I have been to various android forums and this seems to be an important topic.
So if anyone can take the time to explain all this to me I would be grateful.

Hi Ynnah,

I will try to help you as much as possible. First welcome to the android community and to mobilism.

For tablet apps, they are starting to appear more and more as tablets become mainstream. A lot of the apps in the market are tablet ready or becoming tablet ready. You want some kind of security software for your phone. there are many apps out there so its basically up to your preferences on which one you want to use. I personally use ALYac. For games there are hundreds and hundreds. Its hard to sugggest games due to people liking different genres of video games and disliking other so its all up to you to explore and see what games catch your eyes. Some games i play though are angry birds, big time gangsta, contract killer, and drag racing.

Rooting is basically hacking your android phone and unlocking features and settings that you normally cant control. It basically gives you total control and customization. ROM's from what i have gotten from information is that they are basically operating systems for android. Like you run the standard honeycomb ROM but if you were rooted you could run Cyanogen ROM or other ROMs out there. All ROMs are different and have different levels of customization so if you do root, just find the one you like best. Hope this helps some
