When you plug your Tab 3 into your computer (through USB), are you selecting "Mass Storage" mode from the notifications on your tablet?
I haven't tried it myself, but the free ebook program Calibre might allow you to transfer ebooks to your tablet when connected to your computer.
Another thing you can do is install a file manager like Solid Explorer or ES File Manager and connect to your computer through your Wifi to transfer the ebooks.
A method I frequently use to transfer ebooks is Dropbox. I simply put the ebooks I want into the Dropbox folder on my PC and then sync the files on my phone.
As a last resort, you can always email them to yourself.
If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Android post it here.
