I know that this is probably not possible due to the sky changing all the time but is there a star chart app like google sky map that stores the maps on SD. I live in a large city and, due to light pollution, viewing the night sky is terrible but when I am on holiday I can see millions of stars. Using google sky map would cost a fortune in data roaming charges.

There is an app for the iphone that does this, so it is possible. I wonder why no one has done it for android yet.

There is an Android app called Star Chart. Does that serve your needs?

Thank you dial11. Have checked out Star Chart and it is does what I need (now bought it from the market.). Once it is installed it doesn't require any data download. The developer hasn't highlighted it in the features of the app.
