HI!

i have android phones for almost a year, but i still didn't find what i'm looking for. sounds like a song! ;-)

this is my problem. when i receive sms and when in sms is entered phone number, i see that number. but, i want to see only name instead number, of course, if contact is listed in address book.
if i didn't explain good, here is example:

send from my operator: "you have three missed calls. at 10:20 from +385981231231, at 22:14 from +38513232323, at 06:45 from +385918877889. yours t-mobile"

but, all of those three numbers i have in my address book. and i want to see: "you have three missed calls. at 10:20 from hrvoje, at 22:14 from office, at 06:45 from bro. yours t-mobile"

that option, or feature was implemented 15 years ago in siemens s10 and nokia 3650. but, now, with "smart" phone, that is missing.
oh, yes, i'm on lg p500, android 2.2.2.

so, is there ANY sms program which has this option/possibility? i tryed handcent, go sms, chomp sms, and still nothning. i even received e-mail from handcent that "option you want is not usual, and it needs a lot of code to be rewritten, and it is not asked for, ergo, there is no interes from users".
from one croatian forum, one user said that some of htc mobiles (or all of them) do that out-from-the-box.

thanks in advance!!

If the number matches to the contact, then it should show up. Make sure its in correct 10 digit format. Also, when
You open you text message, goto that number on the screen and edit contact and resave it. Then have that person text you again so it refreshes.
All of those programs you mentioned do that. They pull the name from your contact list. Try with multiple contact types, ie, outlook, Google/gmail, Facebook, phone memory, sim card

first, i'm not sure did you understand me. i'm not interested for names of sender! that is ok, that works also from default application. my "problem" is with numbers INSIDE sms messages.
i'm trying with +385, with 00385, i'm changing my contact number exactly as is in that sms message. still no luck.

huh. it seems that i'll must change my mobile... :-(

Are you sure that this feature was available on your old phones? I have never heard of this feature before on any carrier.

I admit if it was available it would be handy however when i get messages like this from orange they are usually under the number of the person who's call i missed.

For example:

I get a missed call from home i then get a text message from Home as follows:

Sender: Home
This person tried to call you at 15:30 on 16/06/2011

Like i said, this is the only way i have seen anything remotely similar to what you are describing.
