Hello everyone,

A friend of mine and I want to play some game together in multiplayer, and since there wasn't a wifi network open in the place we were, he suggested creating a fictional wifi network that we would both connect to so that we can play (this game requires both players to be connected via wifi only).
So what im asking is:
1. Is such a thing even possible?
2. If it is, is there an app that does such a thing?

Which game were you playing? Most WiFi multiplayer games need you to connect to a server of some sort and join a lobby in order for you to play a game, so spoofing a WiFi hotspot probably wouldn't work.

You don't have to create a "fictional" wifi network, just a "real" wifi network.

WiFi doesn't imply that there is internet - even if there is no internet, it's still wifi.

You can startup your Android phone if it can create a wifi hotspot, and you both connect, and you're good. Or get a real wireless router which will work even without internet.

The problem is with the WIFI hotspot - it disables WIFI. The game forces you to have WIFI enabled in order to play a multiplayer game, and as I said it is impossible to be a hotspot and at the same time enable WIFI.

get connectify at http://www.connectify.me/. I been using this for over a year now. If you have a wi-fi card in your computer or laptop and running windows 7. it might work on xp or vista but i don't know. When i'm home i turn on connectify and use my cable internet wirelessly with my Droid X

Maybe it would be possible to create an adhoc wifi connection between the two phones, As to which software you would need for this, i don't know.
But i used to do this between laptops for multiplayer games.
