Discuss Android apps here.

Hi all,

I'll be getting my SG2 tomorrow (first Android phone ever), and it's completely unlocked/unbranded.

But I wanted to ask what, if anything, I need to do install apps from here? Do I need to install a certain ROM, or unlock something in my phone...?

I have no idea how this works.

Thanks in advance!

For installing APK files which are not downloaded using the market (like the apps/games you find here), you need to modify your Android’s settings to allow the installation of applications from other sources. Under 'Settings', select 'Application Settings' and then enable 'Unknown Sources'.

You don't have to install any ROM if you don't want to, stock one will do just fine. some apps do need require root access though, so I advice you to at least root it.

Try to zip them with no compression (m0) & rename them to apk. Should work and is the easiest method.
