Hi guys,

Just wondering if there is an app which enables me to play my windows WMV file movies on to my smartfone?

I have lots backed up on my hard drive and would be great if I could add them to my SD card but need software to view them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Reading rules depends on the time you registered here? Really? Ok, anyways:

There are several players that can do the job for you. I won't recommend this player or an other - just a hint: Type "wmv player" at the search on appbrain.com or marked.android.com

AppBrain: http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=%2Bwmv+player
Market: https://market.android.com/search?q=wmv ... ice=1&so=1

If i have to recommend one: QQPlayer. Why? Because also most of the apps you have to pay, are using ffmpeg as backend, to grant a wide variety of formats will be playable. QQPlayer is for free and is as great as an app you have to buy (maybe much greater :)). QQPlayer also has no ads (!), that may distract your mobile-bill (also really good, if you're in a foreign country).

Summary: Google, AppBrain & Android Market will help you to find the best application for your requirements. Try many, delete most, experiment with every one. I'm sure, you'll get your app you like. This is for all apps you need - it spend many hours daily (!) to check out new apps i may need or maybe i could like).

P.S.: If you'd like to "test" an app you have to pay for or isn't in available at AppBrain or market anymore: Search here :).

I liked QQPlayer until I discovered moboplayer. It just seems to handle the codecs better, even if the process of USING them is more complex in the long haul (setting hardware/software method, downloading the right codec package, etc).

Indeed. The codec-packages were the reason, why i switched to QQPlayer from Mobo. I like to have just one app, that does all i want :).

YES. MOBO PLAYER IS THE BEST APP IN THE MARKET. DOWNLOAD IT MY FRIEND AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT AS IT PLAYS ANY POSSIBLE VIDEO FILE.

Hehe ... seriously I don't want to start anything but that's just such a bizarre request from my point of view. WMP is terrible IMO but all power to you if you like it ;)

Maybe MPC (Media Player Classic - an open source player that is similar to WMP - is available for Android?
