First: Is it possible? Indeed. It is. But how? And do we need a cracked app for it? Just read.

Attention: Just for rooted phones!

  1. Download & install the free (!) app "Gemini App Manager" from here.
  2. Open the app and search for "Market".

  3. Click at the left icon to open the preferences of the chosen app & choose "Block app". I've done this before, so the screenshot is at final state.

  4. Do this with all entries you find with market. There should be 3 of them (see 1st screenshot).
  5. If the app is blocked correctly, the yellow lock will indicate, that it's fine.
  6. You're done!

Notes:
It's recommended to install an other market app. My preferred market is the one from Appbrain. It also lets you do updates, install new software or something else you had in the normal market. Positive: Better options to filter better. It's also possible, that you don't have to block all 3 apps - just the market. I have blocked all 3. I don't miss the normal market, because i do all at Appbrain in need.
If you want to unfreeze the market, just see the 2nd screenshot and choose "Un-Block".

Why should i freeze the market?
For normal purposes, you don't have to freeze the market. But if you install an uncracked app that checks for the license, it may help to block homecalls. I tried it with "SPB Shell 3D 1.2.3" - works like a charm.

I hope, you enjoyed this little tutorial.

I saw an app from Sam Lu, I think its name was aWatchDog... it allows you to find out if your apps need updates even if Market is frozen or otherwise nonexistant. A handy tool to use in conjunction with Mobilism.

Not sure how anyone is able to use appbrain or applanet with Android market frozen in titanium or Gemini. When you try to install anything via appbrain it says you do not have market installed.

Amazon does not seem to use the Android market place and therefore installs from its own market with some minor issues.

Am I doing something wrong?

But now i have another problem, and hope you might be willing to help me with.

I have installed Appbrain and synced it with the website using my google acount. And i have got the install button in the appbrain app, and i dont get any messages that tels me that i done have marked installed (Only if i click the marked button)

But when i select an app via appbrain and click install, and click accept to the Review permissions my phones says "Starting install" but nothing realy happens.. The starting install sign disapers shortly after, and then nothing happens.

Hoping you can help me solve this problem.

Reason?
Care to elaborate on the why?
Only because of the filtering or are there any other reasons?

PS: full-quoters like fujiyamas sux.

@maxee: In my case, the filtering and the updates are well better made with appbrain, than with the normal market. But the main reason is: The normal market has no option, to filter apps on sale. Also the app called "Apps for sale" is more bad than good.

And i agree with you: Fullquotes are shit... hate them too. They are not necessary and just spams the thread...
