Have a link?

Also, should other Bicycle-related GPS app be included in the list?

And btw, anybody can find an apk from the app: SizeMyBike? That would be great...

I really appreciate this. As a newbie biker with no bike apps yet, I'll give these apps a look. Btw, I have a lot of friends that use Endomondo, are you guys not using that?

If not, why?

I've been using SportsTrackerPro for the last 18 months or so. Quite similar to Endomondo, it's currently 75% off, just €0.80 until Jan 15th!

I bought a Zephyr HRM and it works very well with the app.

I find it very stable, good analytics on the phone itself and plenty on the website. Tells you when you've beaten a personal best too :)

The dev is very responsive and has set up a formal process to incorporate user suggestions into the app.

I'm currently using runtastic but, it failed me just now. (I was cycling for 20mins and it said that I had traveled 0.0km. Or it could just be my phone's problem.)

Great thread.. but a link to the developers site or some screenshots would be nice. Or at least sort them in a "top five" arrangement.

Now I have seven different GPS apps and that is too many to choose from!

I use CycleDroid
Code: Select allhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maral.cycledroid

I can't say how it compares to others, but it replaced my broken cateye computer. The cateye was never quite accurate anyway as you had to enter tire circumference and the units I could enter didn't allow for entering my tire's actual size. I'm not using it on my GS3, but it's working fine on my OG Droid (finally a use for it other than playing music and card games). I got a bike mount from Amzer via Amazon. I don't have the Droid hooked up to any type of bio monitor (to monitor heart rate, etc.), but just as a speedometer, odometer, elevation notation, etc., I'm quite pleased. I'd been hoping for something like this, and it works great without requiring a lot of unnecessary permissions.

NOTE: I'm using an older version than what's currently on the market.

I basically do the same 15-mile route daily so I've manually figured out calories burned based on my weight, speed, and distance. If my route varied, it'd be nice to know what I did in terms of calories. Then again, I might never stop riding. Because who wants to burn 480 calories when you could do 500? And who wants to do 500 when you could do 750? or 1000?

Haven't seen Guy1731 in the thread anymore. Still around? If so, I have questions...

1) I have a Giant ATX 860 and I believe it came with "indexed" (I believe that's the term) Shimano gear shifters. When going up or down, you should just *click* and it should jump to the precise correct point to switch the gear. For my front (large) gear, that works when going down, but not when going up. When going up, it feels almost like an old-style gear that I have to forcibly press all the way down for it to switch one gear higher. Is this normal? I don't remember it doing that when the bike was new, but I'm not sure.

2) Is there something, anything, I can do to help protect myself from flats? When I bought the bike from Performance Bikes, I'm pretty sure they said the inner tube was Teflon coated to help protect against flats. I was no longer near that store anymore, so I was going to the local bike shop and they put in generic stuff. Do Teflon coated inner tubes really help much? Unfortunately, I have to ride on street curbs (no paths around here). I do my best to avoid glass, but it's all over the place. I'm amazed at how much glass shards I see when riding. Obviously avoidance is the best option, but I hate the idea of being 10 miles from home and get a flat. The last flat I ended up walking home 4 miles pushing the bike in 85 degree weather.
