As an update, even though the trial will last until 2284, you will still get the "SVOX has failed Licence Check," problem. The solution is this:

1) Force Close, Svox Classic TTS.
2) Then, Force Close SVOX UK English Victoria Voice v3.1.4 or any of the voices you installed.
3) Then, go back to Svox Classic TTS and "Clear data"
4) Start VOX UK English Victoria Voice v3.1.4 or any of the voices you installed, and let it verify the installation.

It should now work until the next time licence check fails. Everytime the licence check fails, just repeat steps 1-4.

You don't need to manually deal with the data downloaded by the app. Just run the app once and it will download the voice data automatically

I also, got it to work in the first place, but after an accidental update of all my apps by playsore, I lost it.
The "forced close" and "clear data" procedure didn't work.
I tried Titanium restore and normal uninstall/reinstall.
Remove with rootexplorer all data, wipe cache and dalvik cache, but no succes anymore.
I got always an ended free trial notification.
Is there a way (besides factory reset) to begin all over again for "first use" ?

It's likely that the update messed up with the permission of the config file and folder. Try this

4. In Root Explorer, go to /data/data/com.svox.classic.langpack.xxxxxx_trial/shared_prefs/ (xxxxxx represents the name of the language pack)
5. Edit settings.xml.xml , change the 3rd line to <string name="endTime">9923491325</string>. Don't forget to save
6. Change the permission of "settings.xml.xml" file. Check the boxes of "Read" for Owner and Group. Uncheck other boxes.
7. Change the permission of the "shared_prefs" folder. Check the boxes of "Read" for Owner and Group, and "Execute" for Owner, Group and Others. Uncheck other boxes

Thanks for your quick reply
You describe the same procedure to get a trial to 2284.
I have done that several times, after the "clear data" procedure from beverlykho.
But always got the "Thank you for trying" message
Because it worked in the first place, I thought maybe there is some hidden file created after trial period.

Seems to work just fine (Galaxy Note II). Running for 2 days now. I used Avast instead of Lucky Patcher. I have Avast installed as my antivirus and used the Firewall option to block the language packs (Victoria and Grace) from internet access. So far, so good.

ProCricketer, which version of LuckyPatcher did you used? I always get the Unable to connect error.

Did you use the newest version 3.5.1 and did this?

Open Menu of Patches> Change the components to Application > Change Permissions and Activities, Save Original Signature (Safe method)?

I can't seem to get it to work. When I use the method above I get: " You must move application to /system/app/ or youmust apply to core.jar Disable zip signature verify patch to android".

I tried to move the apk to system but once I reboot, the apk get uninstalled.

Any help is greatly appreciated it.

Thanks

Well, everything was working great for a couple of months.

Short story: Had to do a factory reset. Could download Svox classic from market but was unable to load any voices using this procedure. Kept telling me that my trial period had expired when I tried to download from market or
using the Svox classic frontend.

Tried: Reloading ROM (MrRobinsons xdev stock rooted rom). No good.
Restoring from Titanium Backup. No good.

Any suggestions?

Ok guys...

Thanks for this, but this method is working until you install another ROM because svox connects to their servers and checks your device ID. (and only works for 30 days) If you don't load another ROM, then it's ok.

After install another ROM, I've got things messed up again!

Googled information about this, and nothing... Then I noticed that there's a file called device_id.xml.xml inside /data/data/com.svox.classic.langpack.xxxxxx_trial/shared_prefs/ and is too obvious on how they trace your 30 days trial after we load another ROM :)

Install again trial from Google Play or SVOX, it doesn't matter a message that you've got to buy app, then open Root Explorer, open that file and just change some numbers in "hereisyouruniquedeviceid" inside, this line -->>> line name="device_id">hereisyouruniquedeviceid</string, save and all new again, 30 days of trial :P. Then follow once again all steps 1-7.

And sorry about my english, I'm from Venezuela :)

I got it to work. To avoid the "Unable to connect. Please make sure that you have an active internet connection..." problem, only do Steps 1 to 7.

if you don't lock internet access it works only while you are not connected (wifi or 3g) else it will count as the normal trial period and the moficiation to the file will be bypassed

I follwed steps 1 to 7, then replaced 8 to 10 by simply blocking internet access to the app. I have edited the hosts file (/etc/hosts) and added this line

127.0.0.1 imu238.infomaniak.ch

Now, when you are connected to internet and the app try to resolve the ip of the site to check the license it will get a fake ip, thinking it is not on internet it will now count the days as you modified in the xml file.

Another way could be making a static permanent fake route (ip route, or route add) toward the ip address 93.88.240.143, but I have preferred blocking the steps-toward-internet at the beginning (dns resolution).

EDIT: oh no... if you block internet access, after several times it says "license check failed"...

Hmmm... Nothing works here.

Great work on discovering unique ID details inside the files...
I think prior don't understand that SVOX can hold and store ALL your system details, so when trial expires and you attempt to request language data, it tells the APP that licence is expired.... :(
