Awesome Android Apps for Plugging in to the Cloud.

The Android Market is booming. Every day Mobilism site is offering dozens of applications and games for download and try-before-you-buy. Problem is, there is just not enough space on your average Android device to keep up. Never fear, the cloud is here! Rather than upgrading your storage, here are a few apps and services that you can use right now to help you offload your data to the cloud and extend your device’s capabilities.

    Image 2Safe cloud storage >> 2 GB free! <<
Cloud service 2Safe gives everyone an opportunity to save their data to the Internet and provide access to them from a variety of devices and platforms. Access to the cloud is implemented by technology WebDAV, which is already supported by a wide variety of applications. However, while service is in beta testing, so welcome constructive comments to improve its performance. The first thing needed to start with the service - register. To do this, enter the name (Latin), and a password to access e-mail address for confirmation. Registration is free - it allows the use of storage capacity '2 GB '. At this store, you can connect a variety of ways and using different devices: PC Windows, Linux, MacOS X, as well as smart phones and tablets running iOS and Android. Consider what features the service provides for a variety of platforms.

    Image 4Sync >> 15 GB free! <<
If you've ever used similar services (like Dropbox), you should feel right at home: 4Sync creates a folder under My Documents (PC) that acts as your primary folder. If you have 4Sync installed on other PCs/Macs or smartphones, then you can access those files seamlessly via the Web app. 4Sync offers up to 15GB of free storage, which should be more than enough for the average user. The free edition offers up to 15GB, but premium subscriptions expand that limit to 100GB.

    Image Amazon MP3 >> 5 GB free! <<
Amazon caused a stir in both the music industry and the cloud storage arena when they launched Amazon Cloud Player. This was primarily because they launched a music storage locker in the cloud without the blessings of the major players in the music industry. The other reason this was interesting is because both Apple and Google were rumored to be cooking up similar services. Amazon beat them both to the punch and will give you 5GB of free cloud storage for your music. Play your music via the web or stream it right on your Android device using the Amazon MP3 app, which also gives you access to buy music directly from the Amazon MP3 Store. For a limited time, you can get an extra 15GB of storage space simply by purchasing an album through their store. (source)

In February 2011, it reached four million users and attained ISO/IEC 27001 certification.

    Image Bitcasa
The Bitcasa mobile app for Android is not another Dropbox. This, of course, may change – but the Dropbox method of “sync a folder from your desktop to the cloud and then sync all computers with that folder” is not being employed here. What’s appears to happen with Bitcasa is that it keeps that data it gets on the servers and caches it to your computer when yo request it. This is a VERY different way of doing things, and, potentially a failing of the service if you can’t reasonably cache data you need over the connection you have available. This is sort of a streaming version of Dropbox (if you will).

    Image G Cloud backup
Don't let the name confuse you, this isn't another app from Google. Despite the tenuous naming link, G Cloud Backup is made by a developer known as Genie9, and sets out to backup all your personal particulars on your Android device. We're not just talking about files and folders, or simply being a cloud locker in which to dump things either. SMS messages, contacts, external SD cards, call logs, all in addition to such items as photos, videos and music. And, root access isn't required for anything, so this one's for everyone. The cloud part is Amazon's S3 cloud storage.

Image Google Drive >> 5 GB free! <<
Previously Google Docs, Google Drive is another cloud storage you can use to store your files on the cloud and access anywhere across devices. If you are familiar with Google Docs, you will be able to start using Google Drive, and you get to conveniently edit 30 different types of files without having to install software on our own devices. (review)

    Image Google Music
Not to be outdone by the likes of Amazon, Google recently launched their own cloud storage music locker. The cloud piece is still in private beta at the time of this writing, with invites rolling out over the past few weeks. The service is nearly identical to Amazon’s, offering a web interface and complimentary Android application. The differences here are that Google Music seems more official and comes with access to a bunch of free music. There is no MP3 store integration at this time and there is still no backing from the music industry. Accounts are free (for now) and offer the ability to store 20,000 songs as opposed to measuring storage in GB. (source)

    Image HiDrive
HiDrive, STRATO's secure cloud storage allows you the most efficient way to access your data by bringing all of your files into one manageable entity. Image Jottacloud >> 5 GB free! <<
Dropbox is one of the best apps everyone likes to have on their phones. But some of you may not like the space limit you get with Dropbox free account. Here comes Jottacloud as an alternative. A new Jottacloud account comes with 5GB of space by default (compared to Dropbox’s 2GB), and if you use their Autosync feature for Android they’ll add in an extra 10GB — meaning you get 15GB of cloud storage on the cheap. Jottacloud is slightly different from Dropbox. Dropbox is a syncing app, while Jottacloud is a cloud-based backup service (like Crashplan or Carbonite).

    Image Just Cloud
JustCloud is a free online storage system which works as an online desktop application that enables storage of files and helps one to keep back up of all kind of files in the cloud and also permits access of the files anytime from any device. It should be said that everyone should start using JustCloud ASAP. It is an absolutely amazing application and is useful for all kind of use. It is one of the best and one of the most user friendly desktop application. Whoever is not yet a member here, should not even hesitate or think twice to register, because this thing is just mind blowing.

    Image LG Cloud
Four days before the purported launch of Samsung's cloud service, Korea's other technology giant has unveiled LG Cloud. The eponymous service offers 5GB free space as standard, while owners of LG's Smart TVs or smartphones will get 50GB free for six months. It'll push content between your devices, appropriately compressed for the medium, so high definition images on your TV will be slimmed down to save your phone's data cap. The free beta begins in South Korea and the US from May 1st, with a global rollout pencilled in for next year -- but don't worry, the company made it clear you'll be able to use it on your holidays, if you can find a signal.

    Image MediaFire
With Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive, and so many others on the market, there's certainly no shortage of cloud storage solutions to choose from. Well, now Android users can add another to their list of potentials, with the increasingly popular MediaFire coming into the fray. While on the surface it may seem like just another dime-a-dozen product in the category, MediaFire sets itself apart by offering a whopping 50GB of free storage to its users. By comparison, most of its competitors shell out somewhere around 5GB of storage free of charge. That said, it is worth noting that the free account does come with quite a few limitations, like a 200MB size limit on files.

    Image MegaCloud
MegaCloud is a free cloud storage service that lets you backup, store, sync and share your photos, music, videos and more with friends across every device. Minus is a very popular service (albeit not as popular as the big dogs like Dropbox) so you may have heard of it before... because it isn’t just your average cloud storage service. Minus allows users to storage data/files on their servers, yes. However, the focus of Minus isn’t storage but rather sharing. The idea behind Minus is uploading your files to your Minus account, then sharing those files with others via Minus Galleries.

    Image MyDigipack
Apple has helped popularize the idea of storing your mobile photos and videos in the “cloud” with its iCloud service. But if you don’t own an Apple device or don’t want to lock yourself into Apple’s ecosystem, a new service called MyDigipack might be for you. The service is similar to iCloud – but a bit more versatile. The app (available on Android, iPhone and Windows Phone) will automatically upload photos and videos taken on a mobile device to its cloud, where you can access and share on a web browser. You’ll get 1GB of storage free (vs. 5GB free on iCloud) and storage plans start at about $1 a month.

    Image OpenDrive
OpenDrive is a cloud service that allows you to not only back up your data, but also to upload and access specific content, such as documents, photos, video and music. One terrific feature is the ability to edit documents that aren’t on your main computer and sync the files via the cloud to other computers and iOS devices. You can also collaborate with others on your projects, but you can’t sync your email, contacts or calendar.

    Image ownCloud
ownCloud is a software suite that provides a location-independent storage area for data (cloud storage). The project was launched in January 2010 by KDE developer Frank Karlitschek to create a free alternative to commercial cloud providers. In contrast to commercial storage services, ownCloud can be installed on a private server at no additional cost. The project is based on PHP and a SQLite, MySQL, Oracle or PostgreSQL database, so ownCloud can run on all platforms that meet these requirements. ownCloud can be operated via a web interface and is thus not tied to a particular operating system. However, native applications, such as File Manager or Group Wares can interact with ownCloud via an interface and provide data and files locally.

    Image Pogoplug
Pogoplug is cloud storage for your mobile life. Access all your files, photos, music and movies wherever you are. Automatically import your phone's camera roll to your cloud so you can share the photos and videos on your phone seconds after you capture them—friends and family can watch your videos instantly! Pogoplug gives you 5GB of free cloud storage, enabling you to store, stream and share your files and media wherever you are. If you ever need more storage, Pogoplug offers infinite expansion by letting you buy more online storage or host your own cloud with a Pogoplug device.

    Image Putlocker
PutLocker is a UK-based cloud storage website that allows anyone to upload and share any type of file with anyone in the world regardless of file type or format, up to a size of 5GB. PutLocker uses the freemium financial model allowing people to use the site for free, as well as unlock additional features for a monthly fee. PutLocker allows for immediate access to media files, without forcing the user to download. Video files are automatically converted to a streaming format, audio files are playable via a web based player, images are embedded directly into the page. PutLocker currently does not have any upload limits in terms of how many files a user can upload to their account, however unregistered and free users have a maximum file size of 1GB per file. Premium users have a maximum file size of 5GB. PutLocker does not place limits on the amount of files that can be downloaded, force users to wait for extended periods of time to download more than one file, or throttle non-paying users

    Image SkyDrive >> 7 GB free! <<
If you are looking for a good amount of storage space in the cloud, Windows Live SkyDrive will give you 25GB of it. The only concern here is that there is no official Windows Live SkyDrive Android app. While Sorami does a good job of allowing you to upload and download data, that is about all it does right now. This means that integration isn’t as smooth as with some other solutions. Still, it provides a way to dump a good amount of data off your device and into the cloud. Of course, this data is also easily accessible from any Internet-connected computer. (source)

    Image SOS Online Backup
SOS Online Backup may be the very best way to protect your precious personal data, storing secure versions offsite. Now it's faster than the competition, and Facebook backup and good iPhone and Android apps are worthy plusses.

    Image SpiderOak >> 2 GB free! <<
SpiderOak is an online backup tool to back up, share, sync, access and store data using an off-site server. SpiderOak is accessible through an app for Windows, Mac and Linux computer platforms, and Android, N900 Maemo and iOS mobile platforms. SpiderOak allows the user to back up any given folder of his/her computer. SpiderOak uses encrypted cloud storage and client-side encryption key creation, so even employees of SpiderOak cannot access users' information. However, these claims cannot be independently verified since the client's source is not available. Some components of SpiderOak are open source, and the company has announced their intent for the client to be fully open source in the future.

    Image Storegate
Storegate is easy to use, provides secure file storage and is overall an adequate online storage service. However, it lacks many of the features that come standard on comparable services, including backup scheduling and file search. The service also lacks comprehensive storage plans and technical support. Storegate has a long way to go before it can compete with more robust online storage services.

    Image SugarSync >> 5 GB free! <<
I was pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly SugarSync works to sync photos and folders. It runs in the background and automatically syncs photos and folders you specify to your cloud storage. These can be accessed from the app on your device, or from the web interface. As someone who snaps a lot of random photos on my Android, I’ve found this a great help since I can remove photos from my device, but still access them via the SugarSync app. Snap a photo and it’s instantly beamed to the cloud and synced to your other devices. You get 5GB of free storage to start, but join with my referral link and we’ll each get an extra 500MB. (source)

TeamDrive is also fully compliant with International Safe Harbor privacy standards.

Image Ubuntu One Files >> 5 GB free! <<
Ubuntu One gives anyone who signs up 2GB of free online space to insert whichever kinds of files they wish. All very nice. Naturally, you can upgrade that for more room but doubtless you can figure that one out for yourself should you get hooked. Whether or not you’re looking to switch cloud services, what we would say to Android users is give this one a crack. It’s always worth taking advantage of free locker space, especially when it syncs and can be accessed on mobile. Lots to gain here, nothing to lose. Dive in.

    Image Wuala >> 5 GB free! <<
The Swiss company Wuala offers a good internet Storage with diverse functions and 5 GB free storage space. The options for storage expansion are very flexible and the security standards are very high. Varied functions and possibilities to share data. Without a doubt, Wuala’s mesh network, security model for file encryption, and the “give space… get space” option definitely make Wuala worth every ounce of consideration. However, the lack of solid integration into the operating system and occasionally fickle performance could pose an issue for some.

    Image Yandex.Disk >> 10 GB free! <<
Users of Yandex.Disk get up to 10 gigabytes of space that they can use for personal documents, photos, music and videos. Like iCloud and Microsoft’s Skydrive, the service is aimed specifically at offering storage services that help keep users tied in to the rest of Yandex’s portfolio of products. Once uploaded to Disk, the files can subsequently be accessed from any internet-enabled device.

    Image Zip Cloud
With over fifteen million files under their care, ZipCloud is a cloud storage company that promotes security, simplicity and safety. Notice that they promote their security twice; that’s because they take file security very seriously. Another area in which ZipCloud excels is their pricing plan. Unlimited cloud storage is only £4.95 a month and they offer a moneyback guarantee which very few of their competitors offer. ZipCloud’s free trial also gives 2 weeks of storage service so that customer’s that are interested in the unlimited plan can check it out before investing. (source)

    Image ZumoDrive >> 2 GB free! <<
Cloud-based syncing and storage has just gotten a little better for Android. This segment of Android is growing fast, there have been a few new syncing solutions for Android release in the past few weeks. ZumoDrive creates a folder on your device and uses that for cloud-based syncing. You can even upload and download various different things right from your handset. This service is also available for the iPhone and Palm. But, it’s reportedly faster on Android then it is on the OS’s. This is a free app and it includes 2GB of storage. If you like more there are plans that start at $2.99 per month for 10 GB of storage.

How to Manage Files Across Different Cloud Storage

By Brian. (source)

When you have multiple cloud storage accounts with on your smartphone or tablet, managing files between the different services would mean frequent switching among your cloud storage apps. Multitasking on a mobile device is still far less convenient than on a laptop or PC.

Image

To solve your two #firstworldproblems, you need an app that supports different cloud storage services and also allows you to share and manage files and folders.

ES File Explorer on Android devices will do that for you. It supports Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive, Box, SugarSync, Amazon, Yandex and Ubuntu One. And we’re going to introduce you to your new best friend.

Cloud Storage File Explorer On Android

Head to the Play Store or click here to get ES File Explorer for free.

Upon starting the app, you’ll notice that you’re able to view files in your Android device’s internal and external storage. This is great as you can transfer files between your Android device and your cloud services. The app can also manage FTP servers.

To add a cloud storage service, navigate to the tab that shows Net, then tap on New and you’ll see a list of supported cloud services.

Image

Tap on one of the cloud services, login to allow the app access and you’ll see the cloud service added to your screen – it’s that simple.

Image

To add more cloud storage accounts you have, tap on New again.

Managing Files Between Cloud Services

If you want to transfer a file from one cloud service to another, you can do so by tapping and holding a file until the Operations menu appears, then tap on Copy to.

Image

You can now select where you want to copy that file to and you can even copy files between the cloud storages and your internal or external storage of your device. After you’ve selected your destination, tap OK.

Image

ES File Explorer Tips & Tricks

You can transfer multiple files at one go by tapping the Select button to ‘highlight’ multiple files.

Once you’ve made your selections, tap and hold any one of the highlighted files, then choose Copy To, to copy your files. This not only works for copying but for any other operations available.

Image

It is also a decent file viewer which supports common files like Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, media (audio, video, image) files, and other text document (PDF, TXT) files which can be opened with other apps on your device.

There is also the ability to share files on your cloud service through Bluethooth, email, messaging or other services like Blogger, Facebook, Google Plus, Picasa, Skype and YoutTube.

Image

Overall, a great Android app for people who want to manage all their data and files on different cloud storage services from one central location.

When it comes to online storage services, you are pampered with choices. Although Google is a titan in the Internet, that doesn’t mean its newly launched Google Drive will replace all other players and become the de-facto for cloud storage. Conversely, there are many other players that are able to provide you with more value for your money. Here are some comparison tables of the various popular online storage providers and how they stack against each other. Please beware there might have been specification changes since the tables were published (watch the date) and use them as a guide to find out what's the best service for your needs.

Yes, DocDock looks indeed to be another nice utility to manage files saved to several cloud accounts. I saw that earlier today, but helas doesn't run on my device. Do you use it?

Yes! That's the spirit... Testing! Testing and experience are the clue. I'd like to find out what's the best - most profitable and user friendly - cloud solution for every individual, depending on needs and use. It would be a good beginning if everyone using a cloud storage posts here which one he uses, and why he/she thinks that's the best one for his use.

Thank you for this topic! I would like to add something I discovered abouy justcloud / zipcloud. They are from the same company that also owns MyPCBackup and it seems they offer a very bad service. More information here http://www.onlinebackupdeals.com/mypcba ... kup-genie/

Thanks for the link. Once more this shows how much we have to be careful before buying an application or a service. Reading comments and try-before-you-buy should be standard procedure before spending your precious money. And - not only because we are sceptical by birth - you never know who wrote a comment or review, and the way services suit you are so personal, I strongly advice to try out everything for yourself: in your situation, your network setup, and responding to your needs. Because it's your cash we talk about, you have the right to be your only judge.

How to Turn Your Dropbox Account into a Web Host (source)

Have you ever wanted to build a simple website or a Web page, but didn’t want to pay for a complex Web host? Most free Web hosting solutions come with limitations, so you can’t really do what you want to do with your website.

What if you could create a free website without limitations, using just your Dropbox account? That’s what Site44 allows you to do. Simply put, it turns your Dropbox into a free Web host so that you can create simple websites and Web pages.

Here’s how:

1. Head over to the Site44 website and sign in using your Dropbox account to get started.

Image

2. Click on the “create a new website” button on the next page.

3. You have two choices: you can use a free site44.com domain or use your own domain. If you use a site44.com domain, then your website will be a subdomain of Site44 (i.e. h**p://yourdomain.site44.com).

If you use your own domain, you’ll have to point a CNAME to domains.site44.com and enter your domain URL.

Image

4. For this tutorial, we’ll just use a free site44.com domain. Enter the name that you want to use for your website. Remember that as with all domain names (free and paid) many names will have already been taken, so choose wisely.

5. Once you agree to the Terms of Use your website will be created, and you’ll get the URL to the Dropbox folder where your website is being hosted.

6. Site44 will create a new Apps folder in your Dropbox account. Your Site44 folder will be in the Apps folder and your website folder in the Site 44 folder (i.e. Dropbox/Apps/site44/yoursite.site44.com)

7. You’ll need to open the index.html file in your website folder. This will allow you to edit the home page of your website.

Image

8. If you want to add more pages to your website, just create more html files as you would any website and add them to your website folder in Dropbox.

What a quick and easy way to create a website! No fancy Web hosts, just your free Dropbox account.

Note: You can only serve static html files from your Dropbox account. You won’t be able to serve .php or any other file that require a server environment.

Some PRO and CONs... (source)

Dropbox
  • Pro: Can increase your free storage by 500MB for each friend you invite, one of two services that offers a Linux app, robust mobile apps.
  • Con: Default storage is dinky compared to other services, paid storage is expensive.

Google Drive
  • Pro: Integrates with your Google account, has one of the highest max file sizes.
  • Con: Has one of the looser terms of service/privacy policies, only mobile app is on Android (though iOS app is said to be on the way).

iCloud
  • Pro: Has an automatic backup feature for whole devices, though only for iOS devices and certain types of files.
  • Con: Serious file type and size restrictions, is primarily meant to work with iOS/Mac OS X.

Microsoft SkyDrive
  • Pro: Largest free tier that may be upgradeable to 25GB depending on if you're using an old Windows Live/MSN account, only platform that works on Windows Phone so far, second-lowest price per GB per month.
  • Con: No Mac client if you don't have OS X Lion installed

Box
  • Pro: Cheapest paid tiers of all the services (though Box charges by the year).
  • Con: No desktop sync without upgrading to a business license, file size limit tied with iCloud for smallest.

SugarSync
  • Pro: One of the few services preparing to offer a Windows Phone app (not out yet), no file size limit.
  • Con: Only more expensive service is Dropbox. Some may say the company is wasting its time supporting Windows Mobile.

SpiderOak
  • Pro: Takes privacy and security the most seriously of all the services, bar none; no file size limit.
  • Con: Requires install of desktop app to use, default storage size is small, mobile apps have not been well-received.

OveraIl, Box earns the title of least expensive paid storage service, though its lowest paid tier is the same size as SkyDrive's first free one, if you're grandfathered into that free 25GB. Many of the services put the great Dropbox to shame in terms of free storage and cost, though Dropbox's legacy have afforded it highly refined desktop and mobile apps for customers to use. If you need a Linux client and lots of flexibility, SugarSync, SpiderOak, and Dropbox come out on top; if you're a budding Windows Phone user, SkyDrive is the only service that will let you access your cloud-stored files.

Epistle: A Minimalist Text Editor For the Cloud (source)

Taking notes is a vital aspect of most people’s everyday routines, from conference or lecture notes to shopping lists. We often have to resort to using rough scrawlings on a piece of paper that gets lost or ruined.

Epistle is a note-taking application for your Android phone. Thanks to low resource usage, it is a speedy and efficient way of making and viewing notes while on the move. It features integration with your Dropbox account too, so you can access your notes from your computers as well as your phone!

The Interface
Epistle’s minimalist design is great for its overall functionality. It is easy to use and there is absolutely nothing to learn or anything that you may be unfamiliar with. One of the highlights of Epistle is that it’s lightning fast to load. I dare say it is the quickest application I have ever used on my phone, certainly regarding start-up time.

To create a note, you need only to load up Epistle and tap the ‘+’ icon in the top-right-hand corner. Where the italicised ‘New Note‘ text is, you can give the note a title. Then just tap the white backing below it to start filling it with content.

There is only so far customization can go with an application that operates solely with text; however, Epistle gives you as much choice in its appearance as it can. For instance, you can configure the text and font formatting just in case you find the defaults displeasing. The fonts in the screen capture below are Epistle’s defaults.

    Image

If you are a real scribble fiend and take down dozens of notes, then scrolling through them would be quite a pain. So to help avoid such a frustration, Epistle offers a search function. To use it you can press the Search button on your phone, or tap the magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen. Type in a keyword, and press search to make all notes with that keyword show up. You can refine your search using multiple keywords.

Eventually your notes or ‘to-do’ pieces will no longer be relevant. To delete an entry, just tap and hold your finger on an item. A dialogue box pops up and you can click ‘remove’.

Dropbox synchronisation
Since you probably don’t want to keep all your notes solely on your phone, Epistle offers you the ability to synchronise your notes to your Dropbox! For those that don’t know, Dropbox is a piece of software that synchronises a folder between all your computers and mobile devices. This means that when you make a note on your phone, it will automatically be sent over the air to your computer (and vice versa). You need not use Dropbox if you don’t want to.

Setting up Dropbox with Epistle is hassle-free. Tap the Menu button and go into Preferences, then ‘Dropbox account Settings’. You have to enter your Username and Password, and then you will be sorted. You can specify the name of the folder that Epistle will use in your Dropbox too. Perhaps you would prefer to call the folder ‘Notes’ rather than the default ‘epistle’ like I did.

To sync with Dropbox after making some notes, press the button with the rotating arrows in the main menu to send and recieve edited notes.

There are two main advantages to using Dropbox alongside Epistle. Firstly, your notes can be read on your computer. This is useful for big notes that deserve a big screen so they can be viewed properly. As you can see in this screen capture, the notes in my Dropbox are the same ones used in the screen capture of Epistle further down this page, and are all stored as separate .txt files.

    Image

When using your computer, you can modify your notes using a full-scale keyboard. This means you can create new notes and refine your existing ones far quicker than you could if you were using your phone’s keyboard.

When on the move with your phone again, you need only remember to tap the sync button, and you have all your up-to-date notes quite literally in-hand.

Is it useful?
Absolutely. As a matter of fact I have taken it on as my own note-taker in lieu of just randomly scrawling things into Google Calender, Google Docs, or my Sticky-Note widget. These Google applications are now reserved solely for my scheduled work and appointments; Epistle is where I keep my random wish-lists and notes. The screen capture below shows some example notes I put in, which should also help to give you an idea of what a full screen of notes looks like.

    Image

I have also been using it as a way of helping in my studies. Since I always have my Netbook in lectures, I can make some notes in OpenOffice or Wordpad. If I then save these in .txt format and pop them into my Dropbox, I can scroll through them on my phone. This can be very useful if you are on the move as much as I am. Such a method could work just as well with your conference scrawlings or one-offs — like notes to help you pass your driving tests. Many people find staring at books and learning that way very arduous (I know I do!). By extracting or writing down key points, you need to read a book only once, and then refer back to the notes. Thanks to Epistle, you can do this wherever you like.

Epistle is far more than a simple note creator on your phone, and it is important to not think of it as merely Phone -> Computer. It works the other way too. If you need to memorize a speech on the move, then quickly convert it to .txt, pop it in your Dropbox and problem solved.

What it hasn’t got
Though I have raved quite a bit about the Dropbox sync, that is it for integration. There is no email feature, nor a ‘use in another application’ feature, which is quite disappointing really. Existing users of the application were also asking for Google Task integration in the Reviews section of Epistle’s market page. One can only hope these sorts of features will come in an upgrade sometime.

Price
Epistle is completely free! The developer’s website specifies it remains a Beta project, which probably explains that. I didn’t find any bugs whilst experimenting with it though, and it seems very refined. Go ahead and enjoy it whilst it remains free!

Conclusion
If you are looking for a quick note-taking application for your phone. You need look no further than Epistle. This application’s small size, fast interaction and simplistic interface make it perfect for such tasks. From me, Epistle gets a rating of 9/10! Though it is a very simplistic application, the Dropbox integration definitely earns it extra points. I can’t find any flaws or bugs in it either. The final mark is lost for not having other forms of external integration besides that of Dropbox. Otherwise it is a great little application and in my view earns such a rating easily.

Get it!
