Discuss Android apps here.

I have a Kindle book to read on Android but I hate the Kindle app (plus they managed to make their new app incompatible with my Android).

Could someone please tell me how I can get rid of the DRM protection on my Kindle ebook please? I need to be able to do this on my Android device (no PC).

Also need a way to convert it, preferably to epub format.

Then I can read the book properly! lol

I guess I'm a noob at this so spoon fed answers won't insult me. ;)

Thanks in advance.

Ok.

I don't believe you can do it without a desktop Computer (PC, MAC, Linux)

Using PC:
1. Install PC for Kindle
2. Install Calibre
3. Install DeDRM_calibre_plugin
4. Load into Calibre Bought eBooks from My Documents\My Kindle Content

Using Android (tricky):
1. Get copy of Kindle_3.0.1.70.apk
2. Patch with kindle3.0.1.70.patch
3. Install new APK
4. Download eBook from Amazon
5. Get the PID for the eBook
6. Copy ebook to PC and use Calibre with PID read at Step 5

from patch text file:
Kindle for Android uses a different scheme to generate its books specific PIDs than Kindle for PC, Kindle for iPhone/iPad, and standalone Kindles.
Unfortunately, K4Android uses an "account secrets" file that would only be available if the device were jail-broken and even then someone would have to figure out how to decode this secret information in order to reverse the process.

I would like a patched version myself as you cannot download magazines to Kindle for PC :-(
