WonderSwan WonderSwan was a line of handheld game consoles produced in Japan by Bandai between 1999 and 2003. It was developed by the late Gunpei Yokoi's company Koto and Bandai. The WonderSwan was made to compete with the Neo Geo Pocket Color and the market leader Nintendo's Game Boy Color (even though the developer for the WonderSwan, Gunpei Yokoi, developed the original Nintendo Game Boy).(Wikipedia)
Emulators for Android: WonderDroid (purchase - Download from mobilism.org)
We couldn't get WonderDroid - an emulator for Bandai's Japan-only handheld - to work. Which is a shame, because we wanted to try Rockman & Forte: Mirai Kara no Chousensha. It completely crashed our Xperia Play, causing the phone to cruelly kill the app. Your mileage may vary, though: the app's free, so no harm in trying.

MS-DOS MS-DOS (short for Microsoft Disk Operating System) is an operating system for x86-based personal computers. It was the most commonly used member of the DOS family of operating systems, and was the main operating system for IBM PC compatible personal computers during the 1980s to the mid-1990s, until it was gradually superseded by operating systems offering a graphical user interface (GUI), in particular by various generations of the Microsoft Windows operating system.(Wikipedia)
Emulators for Android: aDosBox (purchase - Download from mobilism.org)
DosBox is the go-to emulator for playing antique PC games from the days before Windows. Luckily for us, it's available on Android in a number of different incarnations.
Freebie app aDosBox works fine. It has a huge number of options for changing the controls, so you can pull up an on-screen keyboard, use the buttons and keys on your device, or hook up a Bluetooth keyboard. You can also emulate a mouse on the touchscreen, and map hotkeys to the different buttons on your device.
DosBox isn't as simple as most emulators. Instead of being supplied with a list of games, you'll be provided with the Dos terminal. Furthermore, you will have to navigate to the right drive and directory with keyboard commands. Luckily, you can find a good tutorial on the developer's website (see 'more info' link in the release post).
DosBox Turbo (purchase - Download from mobilism.org - VIP release!)
There have been plenty of Android ports of DosBox over the past few years, and most have found themselves lacking in terms of interface. DosBox Turbo has been evolving quite a bit lately, and with the recent addition of very robust control options, support for Xperia Play and external controllers, as well as a sleek graphical front-end (DosBox Manager) that allows for multiple configurations, we finally have a complete solution. DosBox Turbo is also somewhat faster than the other ports we’ve tested. Getting your games set up may take a little time, but once you do, it’ll be easy to grab a game of Commander Keen or Populous.

Amstrad CPC The Amstrad CPC (short for Colour Personal Computer) is a series of 8-bit home computers produced by Amstrad between 1984 and 1990. It was designed to compete in the mid-1980s home computer market dominated by the Commodore 64 and the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, where it successfully established itself primarily in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and the German-speaking parts of Europe.(Wikipedia)
Emulators for Android: CPCDroid (purchase - Download from mobilism.org)
CPCDroid is an emulator for Alan "You're Fired" Sugar's '80s computer. It's based on the desktop PSPCAP32 emulator, but has been thoroughly optimised to work on your mobile.
To that end, you can map anything on the keyboard or joystick to virtual buttons on the touchscreen. Plus, you can tweak the rendering mode for better performance on older phones.
andcpc (purchase - Download from mobilism.org)
The latest version of andcpc has text input code borowed from CPCDroid. Based on PSPCAP32 by Ludovic Jacomme which is a port of Caprice32 open source Amstrad CPC emulator. Tested on a HTC G2/Desire Z , virtual joystick might work now.

Apple IIe The Apple IIe (styled as Apple //e) is the third model in the Apple II series of personal computers produced by Apple Computer. The e in the name stands for enhanced, referring to the fact that several popular features were now built-in that were only available as upgrades and add-ons in earlier models. It also improved upon expandability and added a few new features, which, all combined, made it very attractive to first-time computer shoppers as a general-purpose machine. The Apple IIe has the distinction of being the longest-lived computer in Apple's history, having been manufactured and sold for nearly 11 years with relatively few changes. (Wikipedia)
Emulators for Android:cAndy Apple (purchase - Download from mobilism.org)
It feels a little naughty emulating an Apple system on an Android. But, seeing as the iPhone is closed off to emulators of any kind, Google's smartphone platform will have to do. This free emulator works with physical keyboards, but if your phone doesn't have one, just draw an 'S' gesture on the main screen to pull up a customisable virtual keyboard. It's a faithful Apple II emulator, and it runs smoothly on most phones.

ScummVM ScummVM is a collection of game engine recreations. Originally designed to play LucasArts adventure games that use the SCUMM system (the VM in the name stands for virtual machine), it now also supports a variety of non-SCUMM games by companies like Revolution Software and Adventure Soft. It was originally written by Ludvig Strigeus. Released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, ScummVM is free software.
ScummVM is a reimplementation of the part of the software used to interpret the scripting languages such games used to describe the game world rather than emulating the hardware the games ran on; as such, ScummVM allows the games it supports to be played on platforms other than those for which they were originally released.(Wikipedia)
Emulators for Android: ScummVM (purchase - Download from mobilism.org)
Scumm is the scripting engine that LucasArts used for its string of classic point-and-click adventures, like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle. Scumm VM is a long-running emulator of that engine, which has ballooned to support hundreds of other adventure games, and to work on just about every console and device under the sun. Android is no different, and you can grab a mobile-optimised version for your phone on the Google Play Store. It has almost identical compatibility with the desktop version, and you can tweak the touchscreen settings to your liking.
If you still own one of the supported games, you can import them into the emulator. To do that, just head to this page here to find out which data files you need to extract from the CD or floppy disc, and then put them in your ROM folder.

Z-Machine/Infocom Infocom was a software company, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that produced numerous works of interactive fiction. They also produced one notable business application, a relational database called Cornerstone.
The Z-machine is a virtual machine that was developed by Joel Berez and Marc Blank in 1979 and used by Infocom for its text adventure games. Infocom compiled game code to files containing Z-machine instructions (called story files, or Z-code files), and could therefore port all its text adventures to a new platform simply by writing a Z-machine implementation for that platform. With the large number of incompatible home computer systems in use at the time, this was an important advantage over using native code or developing a compiler for each system.(Wikipedia)

Super Game Boy (SGB) The Super Game Boy is a 16-bit adapter cartridge for Nintendo's Super Nintendo Entertainment System, as well as the Super Famicom in Japan.
The Super Game Boy is compatible with the original monochrome Game Boy cartridges, black Game Boy Color cartridges and the Game Boy Camera although it would display the latter two in their monochrome compatibility mode. The unit could map the four shades of green to various colors on the screen. Later Game Boy games that were optimized to use the Super Game Boy had additional color information and could over-ride the ability to change the on-screen colors, and the ability to display a graphical border around the screen as well as the ability to display special background sprites on the screen as seen in (for example) the Mario's Picross title screen. Those games would have printed a small "Super Game Boy Game Pak" logo on the box and cartridge. The adaptor could support up to 64 colors for the border, and 12 colors for the screen. Colorization is applied to the screen itself, and did not scroll with the background. Static screens could display all 10 colors.(Wikipedia)

Macintosh Plus The Macintosh Plus computer was the third model in the Macintosh line, introduced on January 16, 1986, two years after the original Macintosh and a little more than a year after the Macintosh 512K, with a price tag of US$2599. As an evolutionary improvement over the 512K, it shipped with 1 MB of RAM standard, expandable to 4 MB, and an external SCSI peripheral bus, among smaller improvements. It originally had the same generally beige-colored case as the original Macintosh ("Pantone 453"), but in 1987, the case color was changed to the long-lived, warm gray "Platinum" color. It is the earliest Macintosh model able to run System 7 OS.(Wikipedia)

Sega Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit (VMS) (VM) (VMU) The VMU, or Visual Memory Unit is a memory card peripheral for the Dreamcast. Its official name was changed by Sega for each of the three key regions. The name was changed from VMS to VMU for the NA market as the name VMS was already owned and in use by the Digital Equipment Corporation for their VMS operating system. It is not known why the name was changed again to VM for the European market, however the name VMU was commonly used in the UK. Visual Memory System was first released on July 30th, 1998 in Japan without the Dreamcast branding and included Godzilla virtual pet game.
While its most basic function is as a removable storage device, the VMU may also serve as an auxiliary display during normal gameplay and, through use of additional software, act as a handheld game console. Console-like features of the VMU include a small black and white screen, speaker, directional pad, four buttons and the ability to download additional games. Initially only available in white, colors were expanded to transparent Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Black and many other color variations.(Wikipedia)

Visual Memory Emulator is the best Sega Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit (VMU) Emulator for Android Mobile Phones. With the Sega Dreamcast emulator for Android being abandoned, all we’re left with now is an emulator for the trusty VMU memory card. While this emulator is far from perfect due to frequent crashes, it’s still a pleasure seeing Chao’s Adventure in action once more.

ZX81 (Timex Sinclair 1000) The ZX81, released in a slightly modified form in the United States as the Timex Sinclair 1000, was a home computer produced by Sinclair Research and manufactured in Scotland by Timex Corporation. It was launched in the United Kingdom in March 1981 as the successor to Sinclair's ZX80 and was designed to be a low-cost introduction to home computing for the general public. It was hugely successful and more than 1.5 million units were sold before it was eventually discontinued.
The ZX81 came with 1 kB of on-board memory that could officially be expanded externally to 16 kB. Its single circuit board is housed inside a wedge-shaped plastic case. The memory is provided by either a single 4118 (1024 bit × 8 ) or two 2114 (1024 bit × 4) RAM chips. There are only three other chips on board: a 3.5 MHz Z80A 8-bit microprocessor from Nippon Electric (now NEC), an uncommitted logic array (ULA) chip from Ferranti and a 8 kB ROM providing a simple BASIC interpreter. Early versions of the external RAM cartridge contained 15 kB of memory using an assortment of memory chips, while later versions contained 16 kB of chips but the lowest addressed kilobyte was disabled.(Wikipedia)

Atari 800The Atari 8-bit family is a series of 8-bit home computers manufactured from 1979 to 1992. All are based on the MOS Technology 6502 CPU and were the first home computers designed with custom coprocessor chips. Over the following decade several versions of the same basic design were released, including the original Atari 400 and 800 and their successors, the XL and XE series of computers. Overall, the Atari 8-bit computer line was a commercial success, selling two million units through its major production run between late 1979 and mid-1985,[1] a total of around 4 million units. In 1978, Atari was at the top of the video gamming world with its 2600 VCS game console.
The 800 was a full blown 8 bit computer based on the MOSTEK 6502A processor running at 1.70 MHz with up to 48K of user RAM installed. It had a standard QWERTY keyboard with 62 full-travel keys and 4 special keys to the right of the keyboard. (Wikipedia)

Sega Dreamcast The Dreamcast is a video game console that was released by Sega in November 1998 in Japan and later in 1999 in other territories. It was the first entry in the sixth generation of video game consoles, preceding its rivals, the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. The Dreamcast was Sega's last home console to date.
Sega intended to launch the console as part of a comeback after its previous efforts with the Sega Saturn. With a strong marketing campaign and reformed studios to develop new creative content, the Dreamcast was initially well received with its launch and sales were positive. However when Sony announced the eagerly awaited PlayStation 2, sales of the Dreamcast plummeted. The PS2 quickly became very popular upon release and the Dreamcast lost much of its momentum.(Wikipedia)
