Discuss Android games here.

There seems to be a topic on this subject in every folder except android.
Ive just gotten a Sony Xperia Arc, and I find it quite difficult to find games I like in the onslaught of games that have been posted. There for my question:
What are your favorite android games in what category and why? I do not care what kind of game it is, as long at it has given you a great amount of pleasure! :)

Thx a bunch in advance

Try Game Dev Story for some of that 8-bit feel in the spirit of sim games such as the Tycoon series.

I understand your position, but you can always 'try before you buy' as they say. That's why there is a games download section in the Mobilism forums. That's where I got it from. Plus theres also a "lite" version in the Android Marketplace if you just want a taste of it.

Also, I recommend that you get yourself very good Flash player, such as "Flash Game Box" which makes most Flash-based games playable on your Android. It has customizeable buttons and controls that you can assign keyboard strokes to for playing those type of games.

There are many more quality Flash games online than there are quality games on the Android, so I think it is a great option to have in order to get the most out of your Android.

I must be the only one that does not like angry birds...just dont see the appeal. If you like robo defence, try Grave defence...its a far superior tower defence game.

I'm not a fan of Angry Birds either. Also I suggest doodlegod over alchemy. It's the same game except better interface, playability, more fun, etc.

Gameboid emulator app, Contract Killer, Zenonia 3, Gun Bros, I haven't tried any of the higher end gameloft games because of the SD cache files download because uploaders like using Shit hosts like hot file and duckload instead of Megaupload.

Alchemy genetics is another alchemy type game. Its got a better interface than alchemy, but not as good as doodlegod

After checking out angrybirds I have to agree with you, I don't see the appeal of it. Finished 1 world then got extremely bored over the repetitive game play.

The game I'm playing mostly now is zenonia2. Great game to speed up your train traveling. I'll check out the other games suggested as well.

I've checked out gem miner, man this is the ultimate game for on the toilet! Very addictive and fun to play.

Oke 1 month in and here's some reviews of games I've checked out

Grave defense HD: 8/10, good tower game. Great graphs and well balanced, only thing is I got stuck at the level the village, but ill blame that on my own incompetence.

Tank Hero: 6/10, again good graphs and the touch system works fine. The only problem I have is that you have to touch the screen to shoot and the tanks are rather small, so when you put your finger on the screen you basically lose all sight of where the enemy is, hence the 6/10.

Dragon hunter: 7/10, Shooting down dragons while upgrading your castle. Good fun for a few hours but after that it just gets too repetetive. Theoretically you could go on playing this for a while, but I got tired of swiping my screen to shoot arrows, mostly because it can take up to 5 swipes to kill 1 dragon and there's a lot of em on the higher levels.

Alchemy, I'm not going to rate this since multiple people have pointed out there are better versions of this game out there such as Doodlegod

Megajump: 5/10 Basically you jump up in the sky and have to keep ascending by collecting coins and power ups, you steer your character by moving your phone. Now this is a free game so you could just get this from the market, the annoying thing however is that to unlock levels or upgrades you have to play quite a big amount of time. Of course they offer you the option to buy these power ups of levels for money, which personally instantly kills a game for me.

Robotek HD: 8/10 A good turn based game where you battle another robot and decide the power of your attack with a slot machine system, awesome graphics. Now this game does offer you to purchase power ups with money, but it is you can definitely finish the game without doing so. The main down side of this game is that once you figure out a successful strategy you can just keep repeating this over and over, making it repetitive. This is also a free game and you can just get it off the market.

Pumpkins versus monsters. 6/10 You've got a garden where pumpkins pop up and you've got to group them by color and then shoot them up at the incoming monsters before they reach your garden. Liked it at first but then got really annoyed at the control system, you've got to slide the pumpkins with your finger and the screen doesn't always register your movements right which results in pumpkins going in the wrong direction and losing you battles.

Pinball: 7/10 Does what you'd expect of a pinball game, nothing much to say.

Zenonia 2: 8/10 Now this is a really good RPG with an onscreen joy pad that you can enlarge to make it easier to control your character. Great graphics, somewhat tedious story, but hey what RPG doesn't? If you like RPG's this is a good start and will keep you entertained for 20+ hours.

Gem Miner: 8/10 I love a good mining game, all you have to do is dig deeper and deeper to get at the more valuable minerals so you can buy upgrades to stay under longer etc. I would have given this a 9 or even 10 out of 10 if I didn't reach the bottom of the map within 4 or 5 hours. You could always up the difficulty level which theoretically should stretch it out to a few hours more, but once you've reached the bottom once it just loses it's fun. It is a game that still gets updated though, so maybe it'll get bigger eventually.

Paradise island: 8/10 A bit like roller coaster tycoon but instead of building a theme park you're building a holiday island. Now this game has two currencies, regular dollars and a currency you can only get by buying it or there a two types of buildings that produce them at a very, very slow rate. Now I'd dislike that previous fact if it wasn't for the two buildings that generate the alternative currency. It's not a game you play for a few hours straight, but more a micromanagement type of game.

Well that's it for now, if I check out more games I'll post more reviews. Also If people have any more tips please post them. Cheers
