SUPPORT DEVELOPERS. IF YOU LIKE IT, BUY IT.

Dear people,

While developing my app, I considered putting in some DRM, to make it a little bit harder to crack. However, I decided against it, since I thought people would not really care about this tiny 1,29 euro/dollar download (less than a cup of coffee) and just buy it instead. It is sad to see that my app has been pirated within two days after release.

I would be very grateful if someone here could explain to me how best to deal with this. Of course, I worked on this app for quite some time and I would like to see some revenue being generated. Is DRM a good option? And how should I go about making sure this is not cracked? Or would people prefer a free version with ads?

Best regards,

Eelke Spaak

people will try it out....if it's what they're looking for, they'll probably buy it..I guess most will. Anyway consider it as free advertising and testing, ...all is not lost.
The most cracked apps are more often than not the most famous (and profitable) ones.

About protecting your app, you can do whatever you like...if theres a protection, there's a way around, it been proved times and times again...so it's your right to waste your time and energy for nothing, personnaly I wouldnt bother.

Indeed. I can say: Without cracked copies of some apps, i wouldn't have bought them. I now own ~60 apps (including 2 games). So it's your choice.
